You know what's really pathetic, MissP? Here you got to spend all that fabulous time with Besty, and I haven't even met him yet - and he's right down the highway from us!
It's sad that some of us have to deal with the distance issue, but to actually HAVE the availability, and not take advantage of it, is . . . well, as I said, pathetic.
It's sadder here in NY sometimes. We all technically live within 5 miles if EVEN, yet we're all "so far away".
Hey, I live 3000 miles away from my family and friends on the West Coast and 200 miles away from my family and friends in NYC, but I see them all the time!!!
I guess the solution is to live somewhere "in between"!!!
But ew, who wants to live in a a flyover state?
Quick everyone - imagine me living in Arkansas!
I didn't mean THAT kind of "in between." Besides, who was it that JUST said, "You always have a good time with the right people"?????
Ahahaha, a "flyover" state. I have never heard that term before, but it's good to know there's something else to refer to North Carolina as besides hickville.
I like North Carolina.
Yes, yes.
North Carolina isn't too bad, but when you've spent the vast majority of your life there, it gets old...FAST.
I didn't say I wanted to LIVE there! But I do like visiting.
Well, I will say it's one of those nice places to visit. You have mountains (Asheville is gorgeous), the beaches (the Outer Banks are amazing... I went for the first time I can remember last May and love it!), and a few interesting sites in the middle.
I considered moving to Arkansas for a big promotion.
I just couldn't do it...
Aha, I don't blame you, YWIW. Arkansas scares me, although thankfully I've never been.

I was born in Kansas City, and lived there very happily for awhile as an adult. I have also had perfectly wonderful experiences living in Virginia, Illinois, Colorado, Washington and Arizona - and still have strong ties to people in each.
People are people, wherever you are.
People...people who need people...
Just got home from my 4 hour shift of work...gotta accumulate money towards that NY trip...1 week from today! Husband is golfing but am going to cook filets on the grill for dinner.
By the way, Michigan is for sure a "fly over state" but I do like it here. It is easy to get anywhere by plane from Detroit and the lakes and beaches are phenomenal!
Michigan's a good state, Baddy!

I think the only 'bad' state is the state of mind that some people choose to live in - and that's not limited to any particular place.
I guess I like certain states in smaller doses.
Excellent way to put it DG!
I dunno, Little Rock, Arkansas was pretty damn nasty. And racist. And full of friend foods. And Wal-Marts. And no TJs.
There are big states. And small states. And mind-states. And es-tates. And distastes. And more states, than I. There are le-stat(es), and gestates, and gum pastes, but our state is a GEM!
Sing along to "Mr. Goldstone" from Gypsy.
Try Hot Springs, AK, YWIW. Adorable town. For 10 minutes. (Well, a few hours, if you include the bathhouses)
Good thinking, Shira. Are those the actual lyrics from the song? I've seen Gypsy but haven't listened to the recording in awhile.
Sure, Baddy. Every production of Gypsy MUST include the word "Gestate"
