Shira, that just about made me cry - in a good way.
Well, you have met my mother (the force of nature that she is) and even financial independence has its limits.
Sometimes getting rid of patterns that have been a lifetime in the making are next to impossible.
BTW - my mom has now decided that I should become a psychologist, because, you know, being a VP and Asst General Counsel at a Fortune 100 company is something that just about anyone can do...
After I gave her some good advice, she actually suggested that I go back to school to become a psychologist. Trust me, no matter what you do, or how well you do it, some parents will never be satisfied.
On another (and unrelated note) - I ended up with some stomach bug, so I called my friends and told them to stay away. I guess Zander will be giving a very limited performance tonight.

Popping back in for what is probably my last post of 2008. Electricians have been working here at the house for the past 4 hours, so the power has been off and the house is chilly! All's well now, so I'm heading off to stock up on chick flicks and food for the evening.
My best wishes to all the adults here - much happiness and peace in the new year. And many more good times together!

New Year's Eve has been and gone down here. Nice fireworks. Quiet night. Eight hours sleep. Fit to face another year.

happy 2009.
Patron helped me not remember too many events of the evening, but I am pretty sure I had a good time. My bedroom I called in the beginning of the night got snagged so I kicked people away from the sofa bed thinking I'd still be comfy. Wrong. I think I would've been better sleeping on the floor...I hurt now. Plus I was sharing it with a bed and blanket hog. But all in all a good night.
