NYadgal - you're the best! Fortunately, out here on the left coast, I don't have to go into a coma to try and watch this stuff
That is one very big advantage!
By the way,
I'm going to be out on the 'left' coast the weekend of the Emmy's. That's one of our big events...so we pull out all the stops and entertain the hell out of our clients.
This year Jerry Bruckheimer is hosting a soiree at his home the evening before...
Loved Dan Fogelberg all through college...especially a song from his "Home Free" album called "To The Morning"...I worked for a week one summer at a camp called Camp Fatima..it was a camp for "special" children...we each had one child for the week and lived in cabins (3 counselors, 3 kids), it was one of the best experiences of my life. Anyway, this is the song they would play over the loud speakers every morning to wake us up for a new glorious day...
Watching the sun
Watching it come
Watching it come up over the rooftops.
Cloudy and warm
Maybe a storm
You can never quite tell
From the morning.
Chorus
And it’s going to be a day
There is really no way to say no
To the morning.
Yes it’s going to be a day
There is really nothing left to
Say but
Come on morning.
Waiting for mail
Maybe a tail
From an old friend
Or even a lover.
Sometimes there’s none
But we have fun
Thinking of all who might
Have written.
And maybe there are seasons
And maybe they change
And maybe to love is not so strange.
The sounds of the day
They hurry away
Now they are gone until tomorrow.
When day will break
And you will wake
And you will rake your hands
Across your eyes
And realize
That it’s going to be a day
There is really no way to say no
To the morning.
Yes it’s going to be a day
There is really nothing left to say but
Come on morning.
boobs, that's a beautiful song.
His lyrics are poetry, and he writes some of the most exquisite music.
ok, Netherlands is on the turntable...
NYadgal if you get the chance pick up the "Home Free" CD. You won't be disappointed. I got my copy at Amazon because my LP of course was worn out.
I will do so right this minute.

NYadgal - when are the Emmys? And if you end up at Jerry's place, I hope you have a good time. Personally, I'd rather stick needles in my eyes, but that's just me. Do you know who's hosting them this year? After Ellen's brilliant turn after 9/11, I think they should have made her the permanent host!
DGrant - I'm laughing out loud. I totally agree - but I'm not the special events coordinator, so I just put on a fancy dress and show up. The things I suffer through for my career!
The Emmy's are Sunday, September 19th.
I should know who is hosting, but I don't.
I'm still on Athens time...not back in the groove of US TV yet...lol!
Ellen was fabulous. She is so real. I'm a big fan of hers!

NYadgal - well that figures! I'm going to be in Colorado that weekend to see a show up there. How long will you be 'on the coast'?
Sorry friends, but Boobs is exhausted...It's off to bed for me. If Nina happens to show up later tonight please apologize for me.
Hope to see you all in the morning. Kisses all around. XX
Are you going to Red Rocks? (one of my favorite places in Colorado...)
I won't be there too long. We fly out on Friday, and back on Monday. The flight back on Monday is always torture because it's early and the Emmys and after-parties the night before go on ALL night...and I'm just getting too old and don't 'recover' like I used to!
boobs - as much as I'd love to stay up and play with Nina, I'm only going to be conscious for a few more minutes. Last night I had 'first night back' energy. But, tonight I'm DEAD!
I'll leave a pitcher of Kami's for Nina in the fridge...
Bonsoir!

NYadgal - well, we'll pass each other coming and going in the air - I'll wave and blow kisses out the window I'm actually going up into the mountains outside Aspen. My mother is directing Broadway Bound with my brother as Eugene (as she has done with the other two in the trilogy.) At one point or another, all our family has had a part in this process (I played Toomey when they did Biloxi Blues.) So this has turned into a reunion, of sorts.
And yes, Red Rocks is fantastic! I was telling Boobs about seeing Annie Lennox there - quite an experience!
This thread will be very quiet that weekend!
How exciting that your Mom is directing your brother - and what an interesting family 'project'. And to be able to gather in the mountains outside Aspen in September will be wonderful. Such a beautiful area!
My Aunt and Uncle live in Boulder, so I try to spend time in Colorado every year. I love going out in the Winter for skiing, but lately have been going out more in the other seasons for the music festivals, hiking and art shows.
I'm in LA fairly often - between work and my 'bi-coastal' love affair...so, maybe one of these days our paths will cross! (When 'I Am My Own Wife' gets there I want to take John!)
...meant to add...
Eugene - great role!
and, Biloxi Blues - boot camp was never so funny!

NYadgal - Definitely when WIFE is in town - we want to see it again as well!
I lived in Aspen for awhile - go there in the off-season (either spring or fall - although, in fall you get the Aspens turning!) The hiking is incredible and the rates are MUCH better. My sister and brother still live in Denver, while the mother and step-dad are there and Arizona. We had a tendency to move to where it's spectacularly gorgeous
and how nice to have family in those places so we can go visit!
I suddenly had John Denver in my heart...
Annie's Song
John Denver
You fill up my senses
Like a night in a forest
Like the mountains in springtime
Like a walk in the rain
Like a storm in the desert
Like a sleepy blue ocean
You fill up my senses
Come fill me again
Come let me love you
Let me give my life to you
Let me drown in your laughter
Let me die in your arms
Let me lay down beside you
Let me always be with you
Come let me love you
Come love me again
You fill up my senses
Like a night in a forest
Like the mountains in springtime
Like a walk in the rain
Like a storm in the desert
Like a sleepy blue ocean
You fill up my senses
Come fill me again

NY - now you've made me all misty-eyed. LOT'S of life memories involved with him - up until he died.
Gotta run and get some things done before the Games come on. Thanks for the chat - talk to you later
See you tomorrow!
I'm signing off as well - but I'm leaving a light on for Nina, and the beverages are in the 'fridge...
Have fun.

NYadgal...you'll be around the Emmy festivities. Wow.
I've got my fingers and toes crossed for HBO's "Angels in America" to rule the miniseries, made-for-tv movie categories. :o)
That production blew my mind and has really haunted me since I saw it in December. Can't wait for the DVD.

I can't believe everyone left...
Late to the party again.
*pouts* and then re-reads the lyrics to "Annie's Song" and gets misty-eyed...
I really have a tender place in my heart for the music of both Dan Fogelberg and John Denver.
I'll peek in again tomorrow to catch up on the doings.
Hope everyone has a happy night. :o)
