Actually - I'm still here. Eating pizza by myself. So, I decided to let John sleep while I play with my friends who manage to stay AWAKE!
Turks and Caicos - lovely! Did they have good weather? Not bothered by the recent storms??
That's so funny. I have an excess of AT&T/USA pins that I *think* are from the Nagano games, also. We could do a swap if you'd like. PM me when you get all caught up on everything.
Our fingerprints don't fade from the lives we touch.

Tinfoil...The Terrorizing Terminator
You MUST celebrate milestone birthdays with a trip!
It's my special tradition.
30 was Italy.
40 was Paris. Then Italy. Then Africa. (That was a good year!)
Then I decided that EVERY birthday was a milestone...so have been a travelling fool with anyone and everyone I can get to go along!
bdwaygirl - that's very funny! They must have minted excess batches of pins that year!
Luckily Turks and Caicos were spared from the storms.
That's a relief.
My parents own a home just outside of Ft. Myers, which was spared. What a disaster that area is now. So sad!
It's ok - you can say it!
Make the year ALL about YOU!
I have a t-shirt that a friend gave me that year which says "It's All About ME!". I nearly wore it out!
Also, I think your big 4-oh calls for a special party with your BWW pals! I'll bring the bubbly. Just tell us when it is!
I'll bring the old 45's.
...I'm back - my phone has been ringing off the hook - I'm in the middle of scheduling auditions for my singing group, and I came home to a non-stop stream of calls!
Anyway - back to the party we're planning!
Boobs, I'm sure you'll do a GREAT job of selecting exactly the right music!
Hey guys...Boobs is pooped...gonna give you all a goodnight kiss and be on my way. NYadgal, I'm happy you're home safe and sound. "There's always tomorrow for dreams to come true..." Nitey Nite.
'Night Boobs! Thanks for your nice messages.
I just realized that the gymnastics is on (my tv and my computer aren't in the same room...), so I'm going to sign off and try to stay awake.
A January party will be something to look forward to, Undiscovered!
Will be back tomorrow night. Until then - Have fun!

I came late to the party but enjoyed the threads anyhow.
Time for bed after a peek at the Games.
Sweet Dreams!

This sucks. Every night the adults go to bed just as I'm getting home. Even the boy is gone for the night. Nina is bored and needs some adults to play with who keep the same odd hours that she does.
Sorry, Nina, the boy was actually out last night and would have gladly stopped by to draw your bath and help you work out the tiredness. But he didn't know.
And now, as mentioned before, that nasty, pesky little day job calls.
day jobs suck. In fact, they absolutely blow.
Then again, when you make this much money, concessions can be made. :)

Sorry gang...but I just had to post this....
EVERYONE CAN'T BE IN THE FRONT ROW
Life is a theater - invite your audience carefully.
Not everyone is holy enough and healthy enough to have a front row seat in our lives. There are some people in your life that need to be loved from a distance.
It's amazing what you can accomplish when you let go, or at least minimize your time with draining, negative, incompatible, not-going-anywhere relationships/friendships/fellowships!
Observe the relationships around you.
Pay Attention!
Which ones lift and which ones lean?
Which ones encourage and which ones discourage?
Which ones are on a path of growth uphill and which ones are going downhill?
When you leave certain people, do you feel better or feel worse?
Which ones always have drama or don't really understand, know and
appreciate you and the gift that lies within you?
The more you seek God and the things of God-the more you seek quality, The more you seek not just the hand of God but the face of God- the more you seek things honorable.
The more you seek growth, peace of mind, love and truth around you, the easier it will become for you to decide who gets to sit in the FRONT ROW and who should be moved to the balcony of your life.
You cannot change the people around you...but you can change the people you are around!
Ask God for wisdom and discernment and choose wisely the people who sit in the front row of your life.

Here's a link to do another "Sing Along" to battle any Thursday doldrums:
"Yes, We Have No Bananas"
http://www.niehs.nih.gov/kids/lyrics/bananas.htm
Folk Song written By: Frank Silver and Irving Cohn (1923)
There's a fruit store on our street
It's run by a Greek.
And he keeps good things to eat
But you should hear him speak!
When you ask him anything, he never answers "no".
He just "yes"es you to death,
And as he takes your dough, he tells you...
"Yes! We have no bananas
We have no bananas today!!
We have string beans and onions, cabBAges and scallions
And all kinds of fruit and say
We have an old fashioned toMAHto
A Long Island poTAHto, but
Yes! We have no bananas
We have no bananas today!"
Business got so good for him that he wrote home today,
"Send me Pete and Nick and Jim; I need help right away."
When he got them in the store, there was fun, you bet.
Someone asked for "sparrow grass"
and then the whole quartet
All answered:
"Yes, we have no bananas
We have-a no bananas today.
Just try those coconuts
Those wall-nuts and doughnuts
There ain't many nuts like they.
We'll sell you two kinds of red herring,
Dark brown, and ball-bearing.
But yes, we have no bananas
We have no bananas today."

Boobs and beacon -
thanks for both your posts: uplifting and fun!
Exactly what the Doctor ordered...and since I'm visiting my Dad in the hospital today, those words ring very true!
(taking a quick lunch break...and popping in to say hi!)
Hey NYadgal...I hope things are looking better. Keep that chin up.
Can you believe the gymnastics last night ???? After Paul Hamm fell, I fell asleep, with him in like 12th place, to find out this morning he won Gold...what happened...I missed it all...ugh !
I had heard the results before the evening began (one of the downsides to time-delayed broadcasting), so I tried desperately to stay up to watch. Between travelling and jet lag, however, I fell asleep before the grand finale...BUT...I taped it, so can watch it sometime tonight! (Also caught the highlights on the Today Show this morning.). VERY exciting!
The gift I brought back for everyone is Paul Hamm in his victory crown. He was in high demand, so I was very lucky to get him! I especially enjoyed having him sit on my lap the whole flight home!

Boobs - the other competitors had some problems, and Paul performed two very nearly perfect final routines. It was absolutely brilliant! Updated On: 8/19/04 at 12:54 PM
Thanks DG...hopefully my tivo was set. My brother was a tremendous gymnast in high school and I was my Mom's only means of transportation so I went to everyone of his meets and learned to love the sport..to watch anyway...I'm lucky I can do a cart wheel.
I can do a back lay out, but prefer to lay in
NYadgal...thanks so much for bringing Paul Hamm home for us...do you think he can sit on my lap for awhile???
