Sorry Jose' that quote is from...Valley of the Dolls.
Glad to see NYadgal is back in the City safe and sound.
Good morning (afternoon)JID and newyorkuniq.
What's it all about, Alfie?
Hey Jungle. I'm watching VH1 and they're talking about Studio 54 and wow so many memories are rushing back. Gloria Gaynor is singing "I Will Survive". Talk about a song that you never get tired of.

Boobs, that was my second choice...Neely O'Hara.
Actually anything would have been my second choice to get this thread to move from page 166 to 167.
I'm tired of looking at the the back of the kiddie's head everytime page 166 opened.
Is that all there is, Peggy Lee?
Hi Boobs! - At first I was afraid...I was petrified!
Loved it years ago... loved Sean Hayes quoting those famous words to Eileen Brennan during acting class on Will and Grace a couple of years ago.
As Dick and Harvey used to say, "It's timeless to me".
I'm laughing right now at Ethel Merman's disco album.
I HAVE the Ethel Merman disco album, thank you very much!
Oh Jungle...it's just hysterical hearing those classics with a disco beat and watching Ethel singing them. I'd love to see her doing the Hustle.
Hmmm...can you remember the steps to The Hustle??!!
By the way, since we are on the disco theme here, I put Donna Summer's Greatest Hits in my car CD player last night. She WAS the disco diva!
Absolutely I still remember how to Hustle. I still remember the steps to the Bus Stop too.
Donna Summer was the Queen...every song was a HIT !!!
I know it! She had so many great ones - I especially loved "Dim All The Lights", "On The Radio", "I've Got My Finger in The Trigger" (Love is in control), "This Time I Know It's For Real", "Heaven Knows", "Last Dance", and "Enough is Enough".
Donna Summer in a Broadway musical sounds like a hit to me.
May be an interesting idea - Donna has had plenty of music that defined an era. Love Gladys, too! She is an Atlanta homegirl. Every time I visit the piano bar at Pat O'Brien's in New Orleans, I have to request "Midnight Train to Georgia". I make a very good back-up singing Pip!
Hey...Donna Summer would be great in "The Wiz". I can hear her singing.."If You Believe".
Great idea! Now let's coax her to Broadway! - or at least to do a tour soon.
Maybe NYadgal has some connections that can get our idea to Donna. That would be incredible.
The last time Donna toured through Atlanta was 1995 or 1996. I remember that she put on a fantastic show!

I just tried to read this whole thread and couldn't make it through!
Did none of you ever play OUTSIDE?
How about Ding Dong Ditch It? When you ring your neighbors' doorbells and run and hide behind a tree and laugh yourself sick when they stand out their in their curlers or boxer shorts and curse kids everywhere?
How about Swinging Statues? Red Light, Green Light?
lassy - I commend you for your effort to read through this thread. That's a major undertaking!
I loved all those neighborhood/backyard games. Red Light, Green Light. Mother May I. Capture the flag.
Yeah, we played outside - lol.
A great day was just "riding bikes". That was pretty much as involved as the plan got.
Mom - What are you going to do today?
Me - Ride my bike.
Mom - Be home in time for dinner.

Yep...
Statues, Red Rover, Mother May I, Red Light-Green Light, Hide N Go Seek (in the neighborhood cemetery!) and riding bikes...that about sums up my outside activies most vacations and weekends in good weather.
And snow forts in the winter. :o)
Hey...has anyone heard of the game "Sardines"? It's a variation on Hide N Go Seek.

Yes! Sardines. I remember that. I especially liked playing that game when Stevie, (the really cute boy who lived across the street from me), played. Smooshing into one little place with him was fun!
Snow forts were great. My dad was especially gifted in creating them for us. He'd fill big trashcans up with snow and create these snow castles. I would usually just dig down into a mound of snow. Dad was much more creative!

I'm so glad someone else remembers "Sardines" I used to accompany my best friend to her Church's youth night and we'd play Sardines in the dark and had the run of the entire church buildng.
Everyone smooshing up in one place... I second that about getting cozy with the cute boys!
