It's great to have a good handyman (and no double meaning here, either!) My building has a wonderful guy who takes good care of me. Most of the people in my building are families, who have normal lives. He can't figure me out - between work and travel and John coming and going...so he just laughs at me and asks if I need help...
You know - as much as I'm looking forward to the festivities this weekend, I'd love to have a nice quiet weekend at home! Especially now that Fall is coming - LOVE IT!

Time for me to go home! Yippee!
*grabs coat and runs....before the phone rings again*
I'll be back on when I get home - since I'll be up doing laundry, might as well pop open something delicious and come party with you guys. I'm going to be up all night. What do you say, pajama party?

I am too -- as you know, I have lots of travel and trips coming up for work, so even tough I moaned and groaned -- I am looking forward to sleeping in, reading and doing what ever I want....
Oh, by the way -- I have a suggesstion for our NEXT book club book -- Every Inch of Her by Peter Sheridan. THere was an interview with him on NPR this afternoon and this book sounds great..
Irish playwright Sheridan provides an absolutely delightful slice of Dublin life in his suitably quirky debut novel. Weighing 240 pounds and sporting both a variety of tattoos and a saucy attitude, Philomena Nolan initially appears to be an unlikely heroine. Verbally and physically abused by her loutish husband, Philo reluctantly abandons her five children to buy herself some much needed time to figure out how to restore her battered self-esteem and retool her seemingly hopeless future. Landing on the steps of the local convent seeking asylum, she proceeds to charm both the nuns and the members of the senior day-care center run by the good sisters. Drawing out the elderly residents of her crumbling dockside neighborhood, Philo gives them back their lives, rediscovering her own self-confidence in the process. Poignant, humorous, and featuring an irresistible cast of eccentric characters, this novel will captivate readers while restoring their faith in the unquenchable power of the human spirit

That sounds like an excellent suggestion - and I will re-read what you just wrote when I get home - to do it justice.
But for now, I'm outta here!

Hi!
I got a cab right away - flew home with no traffic - put my first load of laundry in - poured a glass of champagne (for real) from the second bottle that we opened last night and never really got to...and...opened my People magazine to see a picture of Hugh and Matt doing the lap dance with Barbara Walters! I am SOOOOO happy right now!

My People magazine waiting in my mailbox on Friday night is one of my (not-so) guilty pleasures. I wonder if I can access the picture online (if you have a subscription they let you go online...) and, if I could post it...I'll go check in a bit...
Hugh is touching Matt's thigh. It's a good thing.

Undi -- a shaker on ice is being delivered express right now!
Hugh touching my thigh (or any of ours) would be better!
So Adgal -- is Soprano's going to take the best drama finally?

I don't know - I don't think it was the best season, do you? To be honest, the Emmy's are usually dull. DG said it earlier - the made for movies and mini-series are interesting, but the rest is usually so predictable. I wish Ellen were hosting again. She was so great in 2001.
I was thinking I should have set up a thread/poll/contest... but... well... I never got to it...
Undi - open anything you have and anything you like. And if you want champagne, come on over - it won't take you long to get here. You can help me fold laundry and try on shoes...

DG - we had a little scare earlier. We thought the thread had been deleted. I seriously almost had a heart attack. Now I'm hugging it...not letting it out of my sight!
(you may see a thread saying I'll buy the cigarettes - or something along those lines...)...
K - we'll forget the shoes, but if you want to come over, I've got plenty of champagne!

I read about the scare - it reminded me of not being able to access the site - perish the thought!
According to Namo, you can 'save' entire threads - but I don't know how.

I don't think it was the best season, but if you go for the "body of work" concept, it's the best drama on tv....I just love Carmella!
I saw the earlier discussion -- AIA MUST sweep! It was so well done -- could have been a strong Oscar contender if they released them as theatrical relases (ala Godfather's)
OK -- get a flute ready -- crossing the Hudson now!

I don't know how, either. I tried clicking on the 'print thread' link at the top...but my computer chugged and spurted and looked like it was going to go up in flames.
You know, if the entire board went down that would be one thing - but to lose this thread, with the board still up and running - would be really sad to me.
(redhot - if you're reading this - NOT to worry! We love and adore you and want you back!!)

cruel joke idea...let this thread drop a few pages...and bump the 'lost thread' to the top...
No - I take that back, it's too cruel. The bubbles must be going to my head...

I may have two trips -- one for a meeting in Long Beach on the 18th and perhaps another for a grand opening of a new mall/store a few miles from DG's house (that date is not set)
