Hey, KMF - is your laundry finished??
Undi - good luck with the boys while I'm gone...maybe a field trip to the Bronx Zoo is a good idea!

Hi to everyone on the 'adult' thread... I was hoping I'd be able to join all of you when you're starting the book discussion thread (a great idea, by the way!), but since i hope to spend the next week entirely on the beach
with as little computer time as possible, it looks like I'll have to miss the fun this time around. However, I did want to say that if you enjoyed 'I, Lucifer', I highly recommend Julian Barnes' "A History of the World in 10 1/2 Chapters". (This is an older book -- it was published sometime in '88 or '89 -- so my apologies if it turns out that everyone here has actually read it
, but I thought it was worth mentioning just in case.)
"A History...." starts with a cynical story of Noah's Ark -- told from the point of view of a stowaway -- and ends with a sneak preview of heaven. In between you get an analysis of Gericault's "Scene of Shipwreck", a rather disturbing story of terrorists hijacking a cruise ship, a court case in 16th-century France where woodworms were being brought to trial, etc. (And there's the '1/2' chapter about love, which I think is beautiful). It's a fascinating read. I just wanted to bring it up because I was reminded of it immediately when i started reading 'I, Lucifer', (enjoyed that very much, thank you
) although unlike 'I, Lucifer', the tone of Barnes' book varies -- some chapters are hysterically funny, some are really sombre.
Anyway, If all of you HAVE read it, sorry..., but if you haven't, and enjoyed 'I, Lucifer,' I really think this would be worth checking out. Have fun with the book thread!

I'm sad I'm not working on I, LUcifer (because it sounds like a phenomenal) book...but you have to see my separate post *Lying Liars* to know why.
I am in love with Al Franken.
Strange thing to say, I know, but there you have it.

Hi Guys...
I too won't finish Lucifer by Monday (especially since I just bought it today) -- it's a great read though
Bway -- I'll have to pick up Lying Liars -- I love Franken...
I also got Every Inch of her -- I posted about that yesterday -- just took a fast peek and it's going to be a great read...
