Morning NYadgal. Boobs is baaaaaccccckkkkk !!!!!!!!
We had a nice time in Portland,Oregon. We stayed at this really fun Hotel called "The Kennedy School". It was an old school they converted into a Hotel. No need to go out looking for places to eat or drink...they have everything there. I spent most of my time in the Detention Hall because you could drink and smoke in that room. Our room had black boards that you raised up and behind them were shelves for you to put your clothes and a place to also hang them.
The Wedding on Saturday was ruined. It was 2 hours away from the Hotel. It was pouring raining out and cold. We had to buy sweat shirts to stay warm. It was in the middle of the woods, so needless to say my shoes and pants are ruined. The bride looked beautiful, but her gown, which had a train, was encrusted with mud and grass stains. Most people had on gloves, hats, and snow boots. It was kind of hysterical. They actualy started a bon fire. All in all, we had a good time. I felt bad for my friend (the bride), but it seemed she didn't let the weather or anything else bother her in the least. It good to be back home.
BTW...they have this fantastic book store in Portland called Powell's. It has to be the largest book store. Floors and floors of new and used books. Of course we came home with many...my back is still hurting from carring them. I could've spent a day in that store just browsing. I was thinking of blowing off the Wedding and staying at Powell's.
Boobs, i used to order books on-line from Powells... they have EVERYthing...
joeyjoe...it's worth the trip to Portland just for that store..believe me. It's amazing. I should've had the books mailed home like my friends did. The broadway section was amazing...Michael literally had to drag me out of the store.
Morning, All.
Boobs - it sounds like an adventure of a wedding! Rain and mud make for lovely wedding memories. At least now you have an excuse to go shoe shopping. I hope everyone has a lovely day, it is gorgeous here in DC.

Good morning, everyone - and welcome home Boobs (NY - it's hard to know you're just down the road, and not be having breakfast!) Had fun on the 'in-and-out' trip to Colorado - some of the drive was spectacular, as the Aspens were really putting on a show!
For people who like bookstores, another fabulous one is The Tattered Cover in Denver.
Detention Hall - sounds like a great destination for the Adults here! What a great idea for a hotel!
Too bad the weather didn't cooperate, but it will provide her with stories for many years.
I'm just goofing off this morning - since I can't sleep. I could get used to this!
'morningn all...I NEED COFFEE!!!!!!!!!!
Welcome home Boobs -- a rainy. muddy wedding...oh my....
Jeoy Joe -- I have forgotten about that bookstore -- I have spent a few hours there myself on trips to Portland
Adgal -- I can't wait for all the emmy dish --
Hey BT -- you're looking as handosome as ever
Good morning BT and DGrant. DG, I'm glad to hear you back safe and sound from Colorado. Hope it went as well as you expected.
Hey all, I'm also BAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK! I had a fun trip to Ohio. I'm actually at home today, work was canceled due to the Delaware River flooding. The flood waters crested at 24 feet last night in Yardley and Trenton. I live on high ground, so I am dry and safe, but most of the town is under water. My office is located on the river and is closed today. I'm sure the first floor is under water, but I work on the second floor so all should be dry. Damn!
Hi boys!
DG - are you SURE you can't come over for a cup of coffee?

NY - honestly, if it wasn't for the commuter traffic, I'd give it a shot. But this isn't the best time of day to pop in-and-out of town
SOMMS - the flooding looks terrible. I saw it on the news. Hope nothing important was ruined.
Mom - what a trip. Highway construction - your tax dollars at work annoying you!
Glad to hear you had fun at the flea market. I heard the weather in NYC was incredible.
NYadgal - Any fun celebrity stories? Did you tell people that you got your black eye from Debra Messing?
SOMMS - the flooding looks awful. We're renovating the basement and the thought of a flood strikes fear in my heart. Stay high and dry.
Morning, everyone!
Anyone going to hear Karen Mason at Vanderbilt Hall today at noon? I'm thinking of popping over...
BT: I'm sitting here at my computer (in my office) in my basement!
SOMMS - this thread goes in so many directions, but I never thought I would start chatting about my sump pump! The renovation is starting to look fabulous and while we didn't get as much rain as you folks, it is perfectly dry down there. Whew!
saw the floods on new last night as well -- glad you are dry SOMMS -- we had back flooding in my neighboorhood in Jersey City a couple weeks ago when Frances dumped -- let's just say it wasn;t the Hudson that was in everyone's basement
I can sum the Emmy's experience up in one phrase: Angels in America.
Bravo.
My favorite moment:
"Oh boy, thank you. You know there are some days when I myself think I am over-rated -- but not today." -- Miniseries actress winner Meryl Streep for "Angels in America."
There are so many pages on this thread that there is room now for only four posts per page...does anyone know if there is something that can be done about that?
Good morning. So glad everyone is back. It was pretty boring here on the board over the weekend with everyone gone.
Sounds like you all had nice trips, except Boobs. That Oregon rain can be terrible.
I loved Meryl Streep's line also. I missed Elaine Stritch's speech becasue I got a phone call and had to turn the tv. I could see her going on and on and then some comments were made later by other winners. Can anyone give me the gist of it?
<----------------- pulling knife from his back and handing back to Orion....
Stritch was brilliant, also.
and, I posted Tony Kushner's and Geoffrey Wright's comments on the AIA thread.
(Rath - I think you can change your settings to see more posts on a page).
LOL, KMF!
Orion - I'm sure they'll rebroadcast parts of her speech during ET or Access Hollywood coverage tonight - it was too wonderful!
