Morning all -- personally I am saddened by last night's results, however it is out of our hands now -- the sleeper word is morality...what the "average American" is thinking of, I admit I do not know....
I can take comfort in knowing I did all I could and that my vote and actions were worth everything to me. Rather than fester, we need to look inside and see what else we can do to create change (if you desire it).
I am with Addie and adding one more to make two....for those of you that rememebr the little show called "Snoopy", you kmnow where the rest of the song goes!
Hi ya K! I think I need a hug.

Boobs...
Pip suggested a backhoe for your little backyard project.
What do you think?

Morning, all you people on the adults thread. I'm studiously avoiding the political threads, Addy, because I don't even want to KNOW what fighting is going on there.
I agree with you (and Chekhov): we must work. And Rath, don't hate me. I was so determined that we all NOT wake up this morning feeling this way that you might have caught some of my determination. Let's all work together to protect our civil liberties, including a woman's right to choose and whatever's left of gay rights.
As Walt Whitman (and Diana Trilling) said, "We must march, my darlings."
We MUST march!
PalJoey - just let me know when and where.
...and on a personally selfish note, my meeting in Philly today was just cancelled. The day is looking brighter already!
Morning PalJoey.
Beacon I have to think about this one....Hmmm...sounds good to me !!
I'm with Boobs...it takes a little time to mourn a blow to our idealism...but we move on and continue the fight in whatever way we can. The challenge for liberals will always be to ask ourselves how we can better present our perspective to those who obviously don't see the world the way we do. How is it so obvious to us that this administration is taking us, and the world, in the wrong direction yet the majority of voters apparently think otherwise? What assumptions of basic "truths" are we making that apparently aren't so common? That's where we need to concentrate our efforts because whatever we're doing isn't working...

Pip...
On your next run to Starbucks, stop and grab a Backhoe for Boobs! ("A Backhoe for Boobs"--sounds like a children's book)
If we wait too long Grandma will launch a counterattack and Boobs will be in deep doo-doo. The woman is not going to go quietly. :o)

Pip..you brought a tear to my eye..you are such an adult. That was beautifully said. I'm glad to see that DG just isn't showing you where to put your submarine.
LOL - on a 'lighter' note - my horoscope for today:
Your Horoscope 11/3/2004:
If you can force yourself to buckle down and get some housework done, you'll be able to enjoy three straight days of nothing but fun. Calling a friend long-distance will make it go by faster.
...make that four straight days. In Paris...
Uh-oh...read my horoscope....
Here's one more day of extreme emotions, especially designed to give you no choice but to let your dear ones know just how much you care. If it's in person, better bring lots of Kleenex.
If tomorrow all the things were gone
. . I'd worked for all my life,
And I had to start again
. . with just my children and my wife,
I'd thank my lucky stars
. . to be livin' here today.
Cause the flag still stands for freedom
. . And they can't take that away.
And I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I gladly stand up
. . next to you and defend her still today
Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God bless the USA
From the lakes of Minnesota
... To the hills of Tennessee
... Across the plains of Texas
... From sea to shining sea
... From Detroit down to Houston
... And New York to LA
Well there's pride in every American heart
And its time we stand and say..
That I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I gladly stand up . . next to you and defend her still today
Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God bless the USA
And I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I gladly stand up . . next to you and defend her still today
Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God bless the USA!
