I make jewelry. Addy does at events. I never learned how to knit.

Fair...I think I'm glad I haven't noticed... (of course, now I'm going to have to go looking for it!) And, yeah for Cookie telling you how to get your Mac to work! I will give him a big hug when I see him

LA - I have no doubt I will be just delighted with whatever surprise is coming my way!

beacon - I am terrible at knitting, but love to needlepoint. Always have something working...hate idle hands! (A dangerous statment on this thread, but most of the boys are in bed, so I think I can get away with it )

I love needlepoint. I love cross-stitch. It is so relaxing. I have crocheted--granny squares but never put them all together to make the baby afghan for the child who is now in junior high...

My scarf is a blue/green combo using two types of yarn. A pale blue "regular" yarn and then that faux fuzzy furry stuff everyone likes now. It's a green and blue mix. This will be pretty if I ever get my stitchs consistent.

I like doing handwork--it keeps me from snacking!

I am at work on Christmas tree ornaments. I needlepoint new ones every year, with pretty shiny threads that sparkle against the lights on the tree...

Addy: LOL I had the same job and I loved it! I miss it! Somtimes I will go to the knitting store to help teach people how to knitt! It's so much fun. I will show you how when I come to NY! I am teaching my boss right now!

Does anybody quilt?

I love making quilts. They are my 'signature' wedding gift. I give handmade quilts to my friends when they are married. I select fabrics that have patterns and colors that suit my friends and then hand stitch the quilting using different patterns to reflect different themes in their lives. They are ALOT of work, but I am so proud to give them, and my friends treasure them.

In fact, one friend lost just about everything in the last earthquake in LA, but when she was allowed back in her house to gather some things the first thing she ran for was her quilt. I was so touched.

I made one for my niece and nephew when they were born, and have been collecting some of my niece's old dresses (favorite outfits) as she grows out of them so I have fabric samples from 'her life' to make a quilt for her when she is married...

Beacon -
Do you find your knit stitches tighten up? When I started out I used to knit so tightly. With time I loosened up and now can be pretty consistent. I think it just comes with time and relaxation. Starting with 2 yarns together is a good way to disguise mistakes!

Addy, you know you're my hero. It is nice when the boys go to bed and we can talk about handiwork with no innuendo...

BT: It's SO true when you first start to knitt it's usually tight, mine is so relaxed now I don't even think about it when I do it! I am looking at my knitting basket wanting to start a new project with all this talk! Anyone want anything special?

BT--yeah...they are too tight...my first attempt I ended up with extra stitches and had to unravel things. I'm trying to go slow and steady. The biggest part is how to hold the needles comfortably against my stomach or leg to steady things...and I have to count carefully so it's not "relaxing" just yet.

Addy--quilting. You are practically an honorary Mormon if you quilt. LOL. We are always making quilts for charity drives and humanitarian aid kits that Salt Lake ships out all over the world. We tie and we do regular quilts. I'm okay at the tied kind but stink at the patchwork and handstitch style. The underside always looks like Leatherface from Texas Chainsaw Massacure did it... Quilts are so wonderful. I still have some that my grandmother did (lovely patchworks) with her sisters.

*sniffle* feeling sentimental now!

mmmmm - quilting is big time! I'm planning on working with the sewing machine this winter. I have some ideas for some fun uses for old sweaters. I have to fully organize my craft drawers - I was amazed at some of the stuff I have!

I am off to bed too. I have to be up early and start the gym routine again.
