Casino Royale?

Really, really good.... for a Bond movie, which I'm typically not fond of.
And on a shallower note, Daniel Craig is really f*cking hot. Really.

Since all of the Bond books have been filmed, what will the next one be - an original story or remake ?
Most of the books were from the Cold War era. Their best shot appears to be new stories.
Of course, we could have Bond taking on Dollypop. I would pay to see that. Dollypop would try to tak over the world & confiscate every print & DVD of Hello Dolly . Bond would try to stop him.
Not giving anything away, the brief black & white segment at the beginning shows how he got his double 0 status. The rest of the story is updated

I think they said the next Bond film (which Daniel is contracted to do) is going to be an original film which will expand on the organization that controls/ed Le Chiffre.
How HOT was Daniel Craig?! He makes me want to drink. I almost had to wipe my seat before I left the theatre.

Saw it last night. I thought it was quite good, but I agree it was way too long.

The last 20-30 minutes could have been cut down a LOT.
A big thanks to the costume designer. If you squint, I'm convinced you could read the credit card numbers through his back pocket. Yowza.

Posted: 11/26/06 at 9:32pmI thought that the opening chase scene could have been cut down by a good ten minutes. It seemed to go on forever, and by the time it ended, I was sure that I was going to hate the movie.

Posted: 11/26/06 at 9:35pmI'm the total opposite. I thought the Parkour sequence was almost worth the price of admission, but the last few bits in Venice dragged too much.

Posted: 11/29/06 at 7:06pmHey Tiff! Haven't seen you in Fo-ever! Anyhoo, I saw the movie a few days ago, and I think Daniel Craig is one of the best, if not THE best, Bond. I loved the Freerunning/ Parkour sequence as well, and Tiff, I totally agree that the ending was dragged on a little too long. I'm still a little confused about Le Chifre's associate dude. Also, I don't quite understand why Lynd killed herself- wasn't she trying to save her captive boyfriend or something?

Posted: 11/29/06 at 7:08pmP.S. Craig is signed on for two more!

As I recall, the book ended with the card game @ Casino Royale
I think my wife bought me the whole set of Bond paperbacks for Christmas. It should be fun reading them again

I think she killed herself out of the shame she felt over betraying Bond. I just don't get that whole explanation about saving her boyfriend...she and Bond had been canoodling for HOW LONG after the film's climax now? Either she's really lazy or getting the money to Le Chiffre wasn't time sensitive...because that makes sense...?
Oh, side note, Daniel Craig, sadly, is hung like a Vienna sausage. A small one. I'm still distressed over this revelation.

Posted: 11/29/06 at 7:19pmOkay, thanks for the clarification... Note to self: if canoodling with Bond, make sure to dump all boyfriends prior to hooking up with Daniel Craig.

Just returned from seeing it. I thought the poker scene seemed to be poorly edited. So many movies have had great poker scenes. I think this one could have been much better.
I don't buy the boyfriend storyline either. There would have been greater urgency to get the money situation handled.
And who sent Bond the text with the phone number at the end?
I thought "Vesper" was one of the least attractive Bond girls yet.
And believe it or not, I actually quite enjoyed the movie...lol.
#40re: Casino Royale?
Posted: 11/29/06 at 7:58pmDidn't Lynd send Bond the text? I think it was programmed to pop up or something, because M says Vesper probably supposed Bond would find it.

But Dame Judi Dench said it was a monster, and I thought she was always right!

P.S. - this is a cheap attempt to be proven wrong and sent the photo, as well.

The best part:
"The British actress caught a glimpse of the hunky actor's impressive appendage as he was getting dressed in his trailer which was situated opposite her own."
Doesn't a penis have to be like ten inches to be called an appendage? I mean.. an arm is an appendage, right?

Doesn't speak well of the Dame's experiences, does it?

The poor Dame. She probably just wanted to be able to share with the world that she saw Daniel naked but knew what the inevitable follow-up question would be and couldn't exactly respond, "Well, below average at best..."
By the way, has anyone seen Enduring Love? I caught it last night and Daniel and Rhys Ifans share a lingering open mouth kiss near the end that would rival Britney and Madonna's (except even LESS sexy).
