Go see this movie!
I loved it!
And Daniel Craig is amazing in this role. I knew he would be after seeing Layer Cake. Have you seen Enduring Love or his performance in Munich? He's such a great actor.

Check the post above you - I saw Enduring Love two nights ago.
Saw Layer Cake last week - he was excellent in both!

Yowzah!
I loved it too. It seemed fresh.
Spoilers requested...
I have a question about Vesper. Did we see her boyfriend earlier in the film, or was Venice the first time? I'm pretty foggy on that storyline.
And what about Giancarlo Giannini? I didn't get why Bond suspected him, and wasn't sure in the end if he was good or bad.
I loved seeing Jeffrey Wright as Felix Leiter. I hope they give him a bigger role in the next one.

Mistake
See it now. Love Bonds reply to a bartender asking "Shaken not stirred"? Something to the effect " Do I look like I care" Connery never would have said that. Cannot wait for the next one

Bond: "Vodka Martini."
Bartender: "Shaken or stirred?"
Bond: "Do I look like I give a damn?"
I love that part..

I loved this movie too! And I'm a huge Pierce Brosnan fan.
I wouldn't mind seeing Casino Royale a second time on the big screen, if I get a chance.

Posted: 12/5/06 at 2:40pmCasino Royale is a terrific movie! I am a Bond fan from way back and I honestly wasn't thrilled with the selection of Craig as the new Bond. I was completely wrong. Daniel Craig does an outstanding job in this role.

Wow..I think I'm the only one who hated it. I thought the movie was dull and way too long. I kept waiting for the action to start and it never did. Did we really need an hour of poker? I think Craig had potential but in this movie came off too much as a dumb lug. And...if you're going to have Jeffery Wright in a movie please give him something to do.
I know what they were going for...but I like a gadget in my James Bond movies...other than a defib machine stuck in a glove compartment.

Just had to post this bit from Bruce LaBruce's blog on Myspace:
I saw Casino Royale today - don't ask me why, but i had a good reason. Why isn't anyone writing about the fact that the whole movie is hinged on a long, excruciating scene of****and ball torture? For whom was this movie intended, Andrew Crispo? The villain is, of course, once again coded as homosexual (he is mocked for showing no emotion when the evil black Africans - yes folks, it's racist - try to cut off the arm of his vacuous, cold-blooded blond model "girlfriend" with whom he seems to have no romantic or sexual interest), and quite a sadistic one at that. After one of the evil fag's minions helpfully cuts a whole in the seat of a wicker chair in a dank dungeon, Bond, buck naked, is placed on it, his****and balls hanging down, presumably almost to the ground, such a he-man is he. The evil fag then takes a rope with an oval lead weight attached and starts to thwack Bond's privates with it. The evil fag (who cries tears of blood out of one eye! Very Bataille!) makes some suggestive double entendres about this gay sadomasochistic ritual they are both clearly enjoying so much while Bond takes it with a stiff upper - er - lip. It's all about Bond being able to take the most severe punishment like a man - more severe, even, than the sexual torture doled out at Abu Ghraib. There's even some faggoty stoic banter between them about Bond being glad to have a guy scratch his balls for him. It's really sick. This movie and Munich, which also featured Daniel Craig, get my vote as two of the filthiest, kinkiest fetish movies to come out of Hollywood in recent memory. Casino Royale as directed by Pasolini, but without the politics and anti-fascist critique. Oh yeah, it's also colonialist, decadent, hypercapitalist, and amoral. I guess it's the movie the world deserves right now. Oh yeah, and the women in the movie are bovine, or ovine, I can't decide. With all the beautiful women in the world to choose from, I'm not sure why they cast such vacuous, sexless models. Oh yeah, because it's Daniel Craig's body you're supposed to be ogling. He's the new Ursula Undress. Women have become superfluous. That's kind of faggoty, isn't it?

That Bruce LaBruce, what a mensch...
Two thoughts:
One is, is it worth seeing the other "Truman Capote writing In Cold Blood" to see Daniel Craig kiss Capote on the lips?
Second, "Premiere" magazine had a piece about how generic the titles of the Bond films have gotten since they ran out of Flemming books and suggested some future titles.
My favorite was "Die Die Tomorrow Forever"

I just saw Casino Royale via NetFlix last weekend. I'm so glad I was alone and in a dark room because Daniel Craig drives me over the edge. He's the first movie star that I've gotten this worked up over in a looooooooong time.
The movie was fantastic, though, I thought. I thought the part where Vesper was in the shower and Bond went in and held her was really sweet and moving. I really loved almost everything about it. I can't wait to see Craig in more stuff!

Bruce LaBruce isn't serious, right? I don't know who he is or why his name is so stupid, but this can't be for real.
