Well, Jon, she wasn't exactly signing on to do Hamlet.
I thought (and still think) she was delightful and hilarious as Witch Hazel.

Love her. "Make Your Own Kind of Music" is a personal favorite, as well - such powerful lyrics and performance from Cass.

I just recently heard this (and this is my disclaimer..I love both of their music and talent)
If Mama Cass and Karen Carpenter had shared a sandwich, they'd both be alive today.

Posted: 1/27/07 at 12:50pmI always love a good joke...but I didn't find that one funny. Especially because Cass died of a heart attack and *NOT* because she chocked on a sandwich.

Norn, you know how much I love her! One of my favorite singers of all time.

Matt - the only thing bwaylover did was say she didn't find the joke funny - there was no throat-jumping involved. That's because she has class and grace.
Unlike me, who has no problem calling you an insensitive ASS for that inappropriate addition to this discussion.

Look at my post. Where did I "jump down your throat"? I simply said I didn't find it funny. End of story.
On that note, it is amazing to me how quickly someone comes in to ridicule the subject of a "love" thread.

BdwyLover, you're right...you didn't jump down my throat, you found it tasteless and I'm sorry you didn't find the humor in it. I apologize...to YOU alone.
Off note and back to subject, I love Mama Cass's music...I'm obsessed with Karen Carpenter's flawless voice.

Oh and I have to say that whenever I feel sad, I listen to "It's Getting Better" - such a great song.
I first liked The Mamas and The Papas and only then started to get into Cass' solo stuff. Her voice was just incredible alone, but I do love the band's harmonies so.
