12 years of bad experiences, in two states. Coincidence? Perhaps.

And after going to two separate weddings where the bride received a Papal Blessing, and knowing that both of them had each had abortions and lesbian affairs somewhat dulled my appreciation for the fine points of Catholicism.

Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)

If you enjoy terms like "recovering Catholic" then you probably didn't have a strong faith to begin with......no faith is for everybody, so maybe you should just let it go and move on.

And a papal blessing for a wedding? That is a pretty rare thing....and you know TWO different people who received a papal blessing for a wedding? Wow, you must have been a SuperCatholic or something. : )

And so what about the abortion and lesbian affairs? In lost of other Christian denominations, those things would send you automatically to hell. At least in Catholicism you can confess those sins and move on. Sounds like you need to find a new religion to pick on.

I assume you're including the aforementioned 'lesbian affairs' in the term 'sins'? It's nice of you to make it clear the prejudices you embrace in your religion.

And where did you get the idea that I 'enjoy' the term recovering Catholic? The truth is far from any 'enjoyment' - in fact, it was years of pain and rage, thank you very much. Years that I have only recently been able to come close to 'moving on' from.

I find your smugness insulting and presumptive - and your defensiveness about your church to indicate much more about yourself than even you would probably admit to.

Knowing those two brides as well as I did, I doubt they confessed anything.

They both, however, had very wealthy parents.

Its an affair---which usually means cheating on somebody? And yeah, gay sex is a since in the church--so what? So is straight sex unless its its a married man and woman trying to have a baby---which pretty much means 99.99% of sex is a sin. Oh well, you and I can either accept those teachings and be catholic or not.

And of course I'll defend my church against phrases like "recovering catholic" because that phrase is "smug" and obnoxious. So you had bad experiences, and now youre going to put out more negative energy out there?

I think there is way too much anti-catholic bias on this board to have a worthwhile discussion about this, but I'll try.

I have this bad habit of speaking out against things I find hurtful and/or wrong. I am unlikely to stop that practice.

I'll leave this alone, as my feelings on this matter have been too often spread around on this board.

I would also venture a guess that most Catholic bashing on this board is from people who were brought up in the Church. So...we know from whence we speak.

One more thing. Do we think all those priests that raped boys and girls here in the states confessed? Every single time? Cause one would imagine it's a pretty big sin to put the body of Christ on someone's tounge just after touching the altar boy.

JFTR - I readily admit to a hair-trigger concerning this issue, but I also know many posters here who are practicing Catholics - and they are amongst those I respect, like and learn from.

Actually, what makes the scandal devestating is the Church systematically covering up the raping of children by shifting priests between parishes and doing whatever they could to keep it quiet.

I'm sorry...but Giuliani is the one who should be denied Communion?

robbie. they confessed. the bond of the confessional is sacred. i'm sure they meant not to ever do it again, but those damned gays are so insidious in their means of trapping good priests into raping children that the saps never stood a chance.
