Posted: 9/24/04 at 12:17amDarn I ended up eating at Cosi tonight--I gave in to my lack of cosi-ification. I wasn't impressed. Small portions/overprices/not too tasty.

I ate at Edison twice this week.
Get the Lox eggs and onions.
Almost as good as Barney Greengrass (not really) but very good.

Honey-
I was in the theater district and wanted sushi but my hangout was packed.
I eat every meal out. Life is good.

This isn't exactly cheap eats, but how do people find Gramercy Tavern? I've been there twice - once in 2001, once a few months ago, and I found that the quality of food has went waaaay down, esp for the price. It could be because I opted for the tavern instead of the main dining hall (which I wasn't aware had a prix fixe menu - DAMN!).
On the bright side, I saw Mary-Louise Parker that day, gazed for a minute trying to figure out where I recognized that face from, caught her eye and smiled. She probably thought I was a creepy fan.
Anyone else found this? (Not about M-LP, I mean about the quality of Gramercy's food.)

I love that place but have not been there in a long time.
It is great if you have an important client. I really do prefer
Steve Hanson restaurants for the price.
I also love NOBU.
Gosh I am hungry I might give in. Fasting is very difficult.
I already cheated with water and toothpaste.

The Edison Cafe is adjecent to the lobby of the Edison Hotel - 47th St. between Broadway and 8th Ave.
It's is nicknamed "The Polish Tea Room" and was the setting for the Neil Simon (flop)play FORTY FIVE SECONDS FROM BROADWAY. It is a popular hangout for old Jewish actors and comedians like Jackie Mason. The matzo ball soup is legendary, and they make a damn good (and cheap) hamburger.

Joe Allan's always gets a visit from me when I am in the city.
Galaxy is also excellent and cheap.
If you are in the village there is a place called DOJO on both ends. They do a mix of food but mostly Japanese. Excellent prices, I know one is on St. Marks, not sure where the other is.
