Chick-Fil-A is probably up to the same old crap?- Page 3

The statement:

"For many months now, Chick-fil-As corporate giving has been mischaracterized. And while our sincere intent has been to remain out of this political and social debate, events from Chicago this week have once again resulted in questions around our giving. For that reason, we want to provide some context and clarity around who we are, what we believe and our priorities in relation to corporate giving.

A part of our corporate commitment is to be responsible stewards of all that God has entrusted to us. Because of this commitment, Chick-fil-As giving heritage is focused on programs that educate youth, strengthen families and enrich marriages, and support communities. We will continue to focus our giving in those areas. Our intent is not to support political or social agendas.

As we have stated, the Chick-fil-A culture and service tradition in our restaurants is to treat every person with honor, dignity and respect  regardless of their belief, race, creed, sexual orientation or gender. We will continue this tradition in the over 1,600 restaurants run by independent Owner/Operators."

That's pretty straightforward, I'd say. "Strengthen families" and "enrich marriages" only means Christian heterosexual marriages, I don't see how it could be any clearer.

There's also a barefaced lie in there, too, when they claim "(their) intent is not to support political or social agendas," right after supporting political and social agendas. Such mealy-mouthed double talk is as nauseating as their food undoubtedly is.

"There continues to be erroneous implications in the media that Chick-fil-A changed our practices and priorities in order to obtain permission for a new restaurant in Chicago. That is incorrect," he said in a statement posted on Huckabee's website. "Chick-fil-A made no such concessions, and we remain true to who we are and who we have been."

That seems to have satisfied Huckabee, who wrote in response, "I talked earlier today personally with Dan Cathy, CEO of Chick-fil-A about the new reports that Chick-fil-A had capitulated to demands of the supporters of same sex marriage. This is not true."

It's very obvious, to me at least, that the entire thing is BS and Chick Fil A will say anything to build a store front in Chicago.

Chick-fil-A is already in Chicago. Approximately eight locations in the suburbs (where they are usually located) and one downtown in the touristy (and collegiate) Mag Mile near Water Tower. Perhaps they want more in the city, but it's not as if they are begging for a presence. If this is strictly about Chicago (which I doubt), then it's just about individual aldermen in the wards Chick-Fil-A wants to set up shop. I think there is a lot of spin in play here to make it look like Chick-Fil-A is so hugely desperate for a single store in the Pulaski Park neighborhood of Chicago.
