One of my favorite is the Kenny Loggins Christmas album.

I've played the entire Messiah, twice, already. And The Bells of Dublin (the Chieftains) has been playing, too. I adore Christmas music.

Amy Grant's Christmas Lullaby is one of my favourite songs. We sang it in choir a few years ago, and I always choked up performing it in public.

My senior year of high school gave me the wonderful opportunity to sing the Messiah at Carnegie Hall under John Rutter's direction. I LOVE the Messiah, and it always makes me think of NYC done up in Christmas decor... (happy sigh) That was a truly magical experience.

Besides Messiah, nothing says "Christmas!" to me more than the opening the Mormon Tabernacle Choir's "Joy to the World..." it gives me a rush every time I hear it.

re: Christmas Music

I've done the Messiah so many times, but the best had to have been when the Frankfurt German-American Chorale did it back in the 1970's.......At Xmas, we always did a living Xmas tree formation....it was wonderful. The former Empress of Austria, Zita was at that performance, and she came backstage to meet us. It was so exciting.......she was pretty spry for 83.
It was very weird in 1998 to be in the Kaisergruft in Vienna, and see her tomb

OMG! That's the dress I wore to my cousin Minna's Bat Mitzvah!

(w/o the crown, of course. I mean, I was Minna's day, and all...)

Wow! Thanks for the recollection and the pictures Elphaba. :)
I've been to some palaces in Vienna but I've never known much about the Royal Families except Maria Theresia and her infamous daughter.

Glebb, a stodgy group, the Hapsburgs.....the exceptions being the Empress Elizabeth (Sisi, her son Rudolf who was murdered because of it) and Zita........a very intersting royal history....everything was done by such specific rules that life at court was stiffling.......

Yes, I officialy started listening to Christmas music yesterday, when they played 'White Christmas' on the radio. So, of course, I had to go home and listen to 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas' by Judy Garland, the best Christmas song ever.

Glebby....I have many Christmas Albums but I don't have that one. I still seem to gravitate to the Carpenter's Christmas Album...after all these years I still LOVE it !!!!

Glebb, you seem to be missing one of Julie's CDs, THE SOUND OF CHRISTMAS FROM AROUND THE WORLD. What's up with that?! I love the Carpenters rendition of DO YOU HEAR WHAT I HEAR?, which is on their OLD FASHIONED CHRISTMAS cd. Well, I like all their Christmas stuff, but that's my favorite.

That's a great special. Did you know it is the most watched Christmas Special in the history of televised Christmas specials? Now you do. So, what about that CD? Do you have it?

Nope but I have two of her Xmas CDs on my iPod.
Plus she's going to be here soon.
The Boyfriend is playing here next week or the week after and she'll be giving a lecture at Columbia College.

A couple of years ago, I made up a song about Sadam to the beat of 'Jingle Bells' and my friends like it.

I cannot listen to x-mas music until after the thanksgiving parade, because then I will have my gingerbread latte from Starbucks and I can sit and enjoy the music by a fireplace.....
