Hi folks,

I've been brainstorming and I can't seem to come up with much. I was wondering if anyone could think of any Christmas songs or similar songs, either solo or duet?

For example...a good duet is obviously "baby it's cold outside". Any others? What about one for two guys?

The famous Bing Crosby-David Bowie "Little Drummer Boy/Peace on Earth" for two guys.

Any of the older Christmas carols work well because they have nice harmony: "Away in a Manger" "Silent Night" "O Holy Night" "O Come, O Come Emmanuel" etc.

Carol of the Bells would work nicely with two guys.

I've sung White Christmas as a duet. That works well too.

But you say "either solo or duet."

Do you just want a massive list of Christmas songs??

GothamPC,

The Bing Crosby one is brilliant! Thank you, it seems so obvious now that I think about it. I am looking for some solo stuff as well, not necessarily Christmas but kind of the same theme. For example, I thought "Hallelujah" but the lyrics are little sexual at times aha. Something to play on guitar or piano.

Thanks again for the Bing Crosby one!

If anyone ever again calls upon me to sing a song at a Christmas event and I'm given free reign to choose my own, I'm doing 'Surabaya Santa' from 'Songs for a New World'. Not so helpful for two guys, seeing as it's a female solo, but it amuses me too much to not mention in a thread about Christmas songs. :3

If anyone calls on me to sing a song at a Christmas event, I'm going to sing "Fairytale of New York"

Youre a bum
Youre a punk
Youre an old slut on junk
Lying there almost dead on a drip in that bed
You scumbag, you maggot
You cheap lousy faggot
Happy christmas your arse
I pray God its our last

I loathe "baby it's cold outside." I think it's a nice idea but a terrible song. I think Jessica Simpson pushed it over the edge for me.

You have to be Irish to understand it. RIP Kirsty MacColl

best12bars,

No I don't just want a massive list of Christmas songs! I'm avoiding traditional carols because they sound best, I think, as a an ensemble and I'm just trying to think of a cool duet or a piece that would great on guitar. I'm just looking for something a little different, like I said, it doesn't really even need to be a traditional Christmas song.

Have you ever heard of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra? Imagine an orchestra... and a choir... and wailing electric guitars... and growly rock voices... all come together in glorious Christmassy harmony. If you're looking for something that's Christmassy yet different and guitar-based, then check out them. They're AWESOME. :3

I love their Pachelbel "Christmas Canon"

Baby It's Cold Outside is sort of a Christmas date-rape carol.

I think that We Need A Little Christmas, from Mame, could be made into a duet.
