Christopher Ciccone Writes Memoir About Madge#1

Posted: 6/11/08 at 4:20pm

From AP:

"The mystery is solved: Madonna's brother, Christopher Ciccone, is writing a memoir about his sister, to be released in mid-July by Simon & Schuster with a first printing of 350,000, the publisher told The Associated Press on Wednesday.

"The publisher had been promoting a celebrity memoir for July, asking bookstores to order copies without identifying the author or contents.

"Persuading stores to make "blind" orders has been tried before. In 2006, William Morrow offered a mysterious tell-all that turned out to be by Princess Diana's former butler Paul Burrell, who had already written about her. Retailers were angered and the book sold poorly."

According to Rupert Everett's book, he and Madonna are estranged due to Guy Ritchie's homophobia. Eeenteresting.

I'm surprised he didn't wait until Madonna was dead so she couldn't defend herself....

She's from Pontiac, Michigan. Though you'd never know it by her English accent.

Pontiac is a suburb in Detroit. Sounds like a great place to leave. Even with only $35 in your pocket.

It is a great place to leave. She worked hard to reach the heights. Got to admire that.

AFAIK she was actually born in Bay City, MI (birthplace of Stevie Wonder, too) and then moved to Rochester, an economically better off small town that via urban sprawl became a distant northern suburb of Detroit (she went to the same high school as my cousin there). Any slumming she did in and around Pontiac and Detroit (mainly the dance club Menjos) was by choice. She attended U-Mich for a year or two before heading for NY.

From The Post:

A dismayed friend of Madonna said, "We'd heard rumors, but didn't realize he'd actually written it. He was there through the crazy years and has many stories to tell, I'm sure. He's seen it all. Oh, my."

I know it's just hearsay, but if it's true that Madonna and her brother aren't close anymore--that she and her gay friends aren't close anymore--because of Guy being homophobic, I will definitely think less of her for not putting her foot down with Guy to get over his BS.

But, I can't fathom that being the reason. What makes more sense is that her focus is on her family these days--not on the thrills of her younger days.

This was posted on Perez...who I hate...so take it for what it's worth...but I'm friends with someone who used to date C.C. and remained friendly with him for a time and he's also talked about drug problems.

A source very close to Madonna reveals exclusively to PerezHilton.com that she is "extremely sad" and "betrayed" by her brother Christopher Ciccone's planned tell-all book about his very famous sister.

"Madonna has helped Christopher since day one of her career," says our Madge insider. "She's put him in a music video, let him direct one of her tours, decorate her homes. She's given him millions of dollars."

M is said to be closest with Christopher than with any of her other siblings, which is why his betrayal is especially painful.

But, as Madonna's publicist, Liz Rosenberg said yesterday, she and her brother are no longer close.

Why is that????

"Christopher's drug and alcohol addiction is to blame," says our very reliable source. "There came a point where his alcohol and drug abuse got out of control and she's had to cut him off. M has offered to pay for rehab and doctors, but he just won't go. The last two years, his addiction has gotten really bad."

Sources tell us that Madonna is certain that her brother is writing this "tell-all" because he needs money.

Says our insider, "Christopher can't get work. He can't function. He's been evicted from his Miami apartment. He's broke. They took away his car. M's even offered to get him a job if he goes to rehab, but he still won't go. She's never give somenoe more chances than Christopher Ciccone."

And, what also concerns Madonna, we're, told is that "Christopher is fabricating lies" and that people will believe him.

I find it hard to believe that homophobia on Ritchie's part is to blame. Christopher and Madonna's closeness started to crumble years before she even met Guy.

M and Christopher were extremely close, business-wise as well as personally, during the entire time I knew him. He was her righthand man, sort of like a personal assistant. Also, he designed her apartments and homes during that time. I went shopping with him for much of the stuff that went into those abodes. He was able to pursue a career as an artist during this same period of time. He painted and had a couple of shows. I have several of his works on my walls.

Yes, he was the only one of her 7 siblings that was close to her. I'm pretty sure she lined up some directorial work for him (a couple of videos).

He also designed and became part owner of restaurants in LA as well as NYC.

He also designed furniture.

Since we're not in touch any more, I don't know exactly what he's up to but I find it hard to believe he has a drug and/or alcohol problem. He was the most straightlaced person I knew back then. It's a shame this has all happened to him.

Perhaps his attitude got the better of him and crushed him down.

Does anyone other than gay internet users refer to her as "Madge"?

Where DID the Madge nickname come from anyway? It still makes me think of the Palmolive lady!

Actually, "Madge" started with the British press. I'm not sure if they were gay or not.
