i would definitely say that circle in the square provides better training. it is highly respected, as is its faculty. but if you're a 'beginner', you're more like to be accepted to amda. amda, however, has less of a reputation; some people call it scamda. buuut, i hear they're really trying to beef up the program and keep the faculty more consistent. i still recommend circle in the square, though. you're talking about their two year programs right? oh amda does have a bfa in conjuction with the new school.

I'm in Circle's summer program right now and it's intense. We're only into the second week and already all of us have read two assigned books and cried at least once. And this is the SUMMER program, not the official 2 yr. The 2 year program I believe only takes 50 people for the entire school, and you need to be invited back for your second year. The teachers are great and really know what their doing. They really just want the best for you, but they won't sugar coat anything. They will give you a kick in the pants if they feel you need it. I've learned so much a feel that I've grown a ton just in this short amount of time at Circle. If you can get in and you think you can handle it go for it. I think there's a thread on the 2nd or 3rd page of this board that has a lot of info on circle.

Edited to say: If you think you want to do the 2 yr program, it would be a good idea to do the summer program so you can get a feel for what it's like and to also get to know the facutly, who gets together at the end of the summer and discuss the people who are considering the 2 yr.

A beginner most likely wouldn't be accepted to CITS (i'm speaking of the 2-year program).

I think AMDA would probably be a better place for someone with less experience because they accept people of varying skill levels/experience.

Circle is more respected. Truth is that neither is a guarantee. I know people who went to both and can't get a break. Then some who went to both and doing something. Then I have a friend who didn't go to any program besides his PA high school and is getting on tour with West Side Story. He trained with voice classes and dance classes that he could pick up while working. Train in a way you feel comfortable. The only school that seems to be a sure bet in success is Juliard. They are cut throat and demand nothing but perfection.

Circle. I know Bill Reed...he's amazing. I never took from him but all of my friends have and one is there right now actually. It's definetly more respected.
