I also like Rhode Island chowder, but not many places serve it.

artscallion, do you know anywhere in the city that does it right? There was a restaurant in South Jersey that made a great Rhode Island clam chowder, but I haven't found a good substitute here, yet.

And for those of you in the L.A. area (either local or passing through), head out to Santa Monica's "Ye Olde King's Head" pub & restaurant, near the ocean on Santa Monica Blvd.
Their New England Clam Chowder is the best you will ever have, EVER. In your life. EVER. The end. EVER.

Try the Cabbage soup at the Edison. My favorite soup of all!

I still thoroughly enjoyed it even though it was 80 degree weather

I might try it. I can't tell if that's just the soup mix, or if the clams come with it. I'd be a little squeamish ordering clams through the mail!
and art, I'm holding you to that.
