It's A Wonderful Life is simply THE greatest film ever created!! Seriously, it's the best. You guys simply HAVE to watch it, you won't be dissapointed =)
Sadly, I haven't seen a lot of classics...Gone with the Wind is the first that comes to mind. Also Citizen Cane and the Godfather movies. I don't know if these count as "classics" yet, but I have refused to watch any of the Lord of the Rings movies because I simply cannoy stomach that much hype.

You have to see "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington." The best of the Capra movies with Jimmy Stewart even more emotionally satisfying than in "It's a Wonderful Life." And Jean Arthur at her best. A feminist before it was fashionable.
Do yourself a favor and watch all of Capra's movies. You couldn't ask for a better holiday treat. These classic are from a time when movies were made with real actors and not just pretty faces.

Chrysanthemum, get ready to go mad.
I have never seen "Casablanca" either. I've seen parts of "Gone With The Wind" and "The Godfather" but never all the way through.

Posted: 11/23/04 at 1:47amThis thread makes me feel like a nerd. I've seen all of the above, but I was also in a film/culture class in high school. All we did was watch movies, starting with number 100 and going to number 1. (AFI list, btw).

it's sadder when you do all of the above. in word, this mean i spend my life watching more than participating.
everyone, print out your list of films you haven't seen, put it on your fridge, and make sure you have checked all of them off within the year. film makes your heart smile like this

I was in the same boat as most of you. So, I decided to take ALL of AFI's lists and try and watch them. I've done this since the summer. I've seen some really interesting movies. I'm trying to go from 100 to 1.
I just watch Amadeus last night.
The Apartment was really good. The subject matter is pretty racy.
There are A LOT of westerns on the top 100 list, that's why I only do one a week. Also, I try not to watch violent movies so seeing The Godfather, Pulp Fiction, (etc.) is going to be esp.tough but I'm getting people to have already seen these movies to watch with me.
So to answer the above question -- I have still not seen Casablanca or Gone with the Wind but I intend to.
