it had to happen. i got hooked on the show in the late 70s, early 80s when our babysitter forced us to watch the show. then my sisters got hooked and i never had control of the tv again. i'm sure i missed out on classic planet of the apes moments but you've seen one ape, you've seen them all.
i don't watch anymore but i would love to bring back the characters and stories from that era.
edward and lila quartermaine
ann and jeremy
joe kelly
rick, leslie, amy and even mikey
luke and laura (the first time when she was still with scotty and luke raped her and THEN they got married)
robert scorpio and holly
tiffany
lu and blackie
jeff webber
noah drake
whoever the hell demi moore played, was it jackie templeton?
classic.
I adored Leslie. When the character of Laura showed up, I was jealous of Genie Francis for getting to play Denise Alexander's daughter.
When they killed Leslie off, I stopped watching. About 12 years later, they teased us that they were bringing her back. I turned it back on. I got completely hooked again, even though they only trot poor Leslie out once every six months for a scene or two.
i loved that family more than my own! i heart leslie. i vowed never to get sucked back into it and refuse to watch it especially since they changed the set in the early 90s, i think, to those dark, dark god-awful abominations.
I think that is when I wasn't watching. The good news is that Tracy Quartermaine is back and better than ever. Still played by the brilliantly perfect Jane Elliott.
I remember Leslie Charleson having a very distinct voice. Was it just me?
I was just a little kid so I can only touch on things that left an impression and not whole entire storylines but certain characters do stick out in my mind.
nope, marquise, monica does have a distinctive voice.
tracy is great. i still remember when i caught a glimpse of steve bond (he was one of her sons wasn't he - the redneck bastard child or somethin') in playgirl. my MOM's playgirl!
Yup, Demi was Jackie Templeton and had some serious star quality back then at age 19. I knew she was going to be big, and I'm not just saying that now.
I met her on a Soap Opera Digest tour Q&A thing - she couldn't have been nicer.
I remember Janine Turner as her sister "Laura Templeton". She was so beautiful.
Robert Scorpio (he was shirtless 1/2 the time)...Blackie Parrish...Jackie Templeton...I didn't care for Emma Samms as Holly Scorpio she was annoying.
but robert and holly had the great song, "baby come to me" by james ingrahm. how could you not love them!
oh i loved robert, no doubt about that, sexy aussie that he was.
i do remember "baby come to me" on that show..lol.
i just never cared for emma samms.
Tracy came back with another son this time - he's about to start college in the fall.
and you dared to question whether grandmama cassadine ever died?!?
Rick Webber reappeared a couple of years ago - the original actor - remember Chris Robinson? He actually did those "I'm not a doctor, but I play one on TV" commercials. He was the guy. Anyway, Laura killed him.
Wow, I think I was the only one in my highschool that did not watch GH. I liked All My Children, but have been soap free for over 10 years (I think I get another coin for that!)
I watch GUIDING LIGHT.
Steve Bond played Jimmie Lee Holt and was Edward's illegitimate son.
I'll really show my age (though I was a wee tot when my grandmother sat me on the couch while she watched her, at the time, 15 minute "story", when I tell you guys that way back when GH started it consisted of three sets. Steve Hardy's office, the medicine room and the nurses station manned by Audrey's older sister Lucille March (meanie!). You always heard "7 Floor Nurses Station, Nurse So and So speaking. Steve's door was to the left of the nurses station, the medicine room was behind the nurses station and you had to walk through there to get to it and a set of elevator doors to the right of the nurses station. That's it. Once in a while you might actually see an operating room. All the secret rendezous took place in the medicine room. There was a board with room numbers situated near the nurses station, so when the "patient" hit the call button a room number would light up.
BTW, the show was in black & white back then. Horrors!!

It was black and white for me for years, because we had a black and white set. I started watching 30 years ago, and I believe it was a half hour by then. It was before the Quartermaines!
Eventually they stretched it to 45 minutes, and now, of coures, it's an hour.
thanks bwaygirl. jimmy lee holt, yes, that was him. he married that awful woman, celia?
i remember in later years, the hardy boys came back to town. kevin and ?
Kevin and Patrick O'Connor, you mean? The one was married to that one whose sister was on Wings. That was when Lucy was first introduced.
By the Hardy boys, do you mean Tom Hardy and Scotty Baldwin, who were cousins?
Yeah, Jimmie Lee ended up with Celia, which confuses me at the moment. Celia was a Quartermaine, right?

yeah, i confused the o'connors with the hardy boys...
and tom married the blind model from lionel richie's song, "hello"
Simone? Was her name Simone on the show? I vaguely remember the uproar it caused.
I have this big ole GH book, which I call their "Bible". I really should dig that out and look through it. I'm sure there's a lot in there that I've forgotten about.

I oculdn't stand Lucy. Not for one second.
Rath, do you mean in the beginning or for all time you disliked her? I miss her. Some classic scenes involved her, and there was never a dull moment when she was around. I especially miss her annual Nurses Ball. Used to love those!

I pretty much never liked her. I liked the Nurses Balls in spite of her involvement. I found her so annoying - I always wanted to slap her.
The best Nurses Balls were when Amber Tamblyn and Stuart Damon performed together.
LOL! I started to type that about Amber and Stuart, but deleted it. Couldn't remember exactly what they did, but I thought it had to do with him being the bear?
Those particular shows always made me cry.
