Clay Aiken

Posted: 4/18/06 at 7:18pmI'm curious. Possible closted homosexuality aside, what are your opinions of him?

Posted: 4/18/06 at 7:24pmI think he should have beat Ruben (is that spelled right). He could actually sing, where Ruben could only sway and sing in a monotonous voice.

I think I'll go listen to his CD... who's this Ruben character?

If Clay would have won American Idol, then he would have gone MIA just like the rest of the winners!(Well, except for Kelly Clarkson.)
I really don't care about all of the stories going on about him; I still love his voice and his character. From the first day I set eyes on him singing during his audition, I knew he was going to be a great singer. I wish I hadn't missed the Kelly Clarkson and Clay Aiken tour that came over here! Damn!

Posted: 4/18/06 at 7:34pmI wanted him to win so badly. But, I mean it doesn't really matter because he's doing better than Ruben anyways.

I honestly think his voice isn't anything all that amazing. Then again, I find myself believing that about so many people now that Broadway is slowly taking over my music collection.
On a petty, superficial note -- what women see in him, looks-wise, is beyond me. He looks like Thom Yorke to me.

I really like Clay's voice. I always have. I have his first CD, which I like quite a bit, and then a compilation my friend made for me -- it's all of his American Idol performances. Strangely, I like the latter better.
I think he's cute. In a nerdy "I want to hug you" kind of way.

I adored Clay from the moment I saw his audition, and I do own his CD. I am forever being mocked for this, but I don't care. His voice is lovely.

The reason I ask is because I'm a fan. This past summer he did a Jukebox Tour with an amazing selection of songs, several of which were unexpected, that he did quite incredibly. He did songs from the 50's 60's 70's 80's 90's today, and even previewed a few of his next album. Highlights included Unchained Melody, Suspicious Minds, Solitaire, Great Balls of Fire, Oh What a Night, Mandee, Bridge Over Troubled Water, Ain't No Mountain High Enough, My Girl, Prince's When Doves Cry (brilliantly sung, awkward to watch), Heart's Alone, Sailing, I Can't Make You Love Me, and of course his signature Invisible.
His background singer did the best rendition of I Will Always Love You I have ever heard. I was blown away.
Basically, I was blown away.

#13re: Clay Aiken
Posted: 4/18/06 at 8:47pmHe's so much better live than anything. I was left unimpressed by his anticipated first album. His Christmas album had some amazing songs on it though. But his live singing is exponentially better than anything he's recorded or anything he's put on TV for that matter. Especially that horrid Christmas Special.

The only good thing about the Christmas special was Megan Mullally.
I like some of his music, during Idol and after Idol, but sometimes he just aggravates me because he's a self-loathing homo who can't handle the fact that he can't please everyone.

Posted: 4/18/06 at 10:12pmI saw his Christmas shows 2 years in a row when he came into town. Love, love, love his voice but he's not so much nice to his fans. Both years I went over to the stage door and waited for a long time with other fans to see if he'd come out after the concert and both years I got disappointed. He never came out. The second year he was actually getting a massage instead of meeting his fans. It was pretty lame.

I love him. And I cannot help it and I will not excuse it. He's just so, as someone said, huggable.
And Neo, I saw the Jukebox Tour this summer too. Three times. I know, I know. I'm a groupie. It's ridiculous. But he's just so cute! And one of my best friends and I love road trips and since he played a lot of state fairs, we could afford it. Nothing like a good adventure.
As far as his questionable sexuality, I don't really care too much. I've seen all of the tabloid articles and I feel bad for him. But hell- if he keeps singing, I'll keep listening. The last tour I saw him in this summer was incredible. He covered "When A Man Loves A Woman" by request when I saw him and I was a puddle of goo. He was just plain awesome.
Yeah, I'm a fan.
