Clearing Scott's name - Beating a Dead Horse

I know this thread is beating a dead horse, but, I've been away for a week, and had to post this, for all those Scott haters out there:

A: As for his arrest record - Bo Bice has had more. He was arrested twice on drug charges. Not that there's anything wrong with drugs...but why hasn't anyone posted his mugshots?

B: As for Scott "beating" his wife - I hardly call throwing a phone at someone a "beating". If that's the case, I have "beat up" many people - men and women - in my lifetime.
"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive. "Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot." "No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one." Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.

Sorry, but that doesn't clear up anything. What Bo did, he did to himself.

Scott was physically aggressive twords another human.

Perhaps I'm wrong, but wasn't she pregnant at the time? Throwing a phone at a pregnant woman doesn't seem all that easily dismissable.

I'd rather listen to someone beat a dead horse than listen to Scott slaugher otherwise good music.

I don't care who he beat in real life: the pain he inflicted on my ears was crime enough.

Exactly. Plus Bo is a lot cuter . ( which is the most important thing to me because I am shallow as can be)

Why would anyone feel compelled to defend Scott Savol? Utterly charmless, he never missed an opportunity through his grimaces, body language and grunted utterances to show contempt for the world. Add to that his complete lack of talent and style and you don't even need to mention the fact that he looks like a huge angry baby.

And Justice, the defense that other contestants have been arrested more is down right cute! It's amazing how low our standards have fallen.

I'm curious Justice, what is it about Mr. Savol that has inspired such devotion?

"he looks like a huge angry baby."

THATS IT!!! I was trying to pick something that perfectly describes him, thank you!

Justice always seems to support Scott.

I'd love to know why also....

Could care less why anyone would defend him. The most important thing......he is gone. Bye-bye Scottie!

re: Clearing Scott's name - Beating a Dead Horse

I've already justified myself in a previous thread. But, I will make this simple. In a way, I can understand if people don't like his personality, or don't care for his style of singing. But, on this board, it goes beyond that, with immature insults, along with unessecary (sp) anger. I defend him, because despite what ya'll believe, he did nothing wrong to you, personally. He went up there and did his thing, whether or not people liked it. It's actually surprising to me that most of these immature insults are coming from the grown (older) men on this board - the same ones who would defend their favorite stars if someone had insulted them.

I thought that I read that his girlfriend wasn't pregnant, but actually holding their infant son at the time. Which is even worse than throwing something at a pregnant woman.

And the best description I've heard of Scott's appearance is a ham with teeth.

*snort*

sorry Justice, but with a guy like Scott it's hard not to point out faulties. That is awful of me, but true..

well Justice, good for you! It's a nice mission to love the unlovable and I salute you!

Me, I'm glad I'm a grown man who doesn't wait to get hit with the phone to say that the ability to "Get up and do his thing" isn't enough to make someone a star.

And the "Ham with teeth" line is way out of line. I LIKE Ham.

"a ham with teeth" that is FUNNY! LOL

Justice - it's fine if you're a fan, but you have understand a lot us are not. I think he made a bad first impression and then he did nothing to redeem himself.
Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be enbered with your old nonsense. ~ Emerson

"I think he made a bad first impression and then he did nothing to redeem himself."

First impression: You mean when he got up and auditioned, blowing the judges, as well as tv viewers away?
Because, if by first impression, you are talking about his arrest record...that actually wasn't a first impression, as we all found out later on in the episode.
As for redeeming himself, is that really his duty as an American Idol finalist? Remember, AI is on Fox, not Court TV.

re: Clearing Scott's name - Beating a Dead Horse

How about my first impression of the guy who basically left his partners out to dry when they got ready for the group performances and then trotted out his 'tragic' life story week in and week out as a coy way to make himself into the 'oppressed' underdog I have no doubt he truly believes himself to be, even though it's all just a full-grown whining that his parents weren't nice to him in front of millions of people?

re: Clearing Scott's name - Beating a Dead Horse

Justice- for me, it was also sort of..ironic, having Scott on AI and all, especially how far he went because his looks (I know that's mean, but in the music business, it's the truth), and his past records, and his personality as a whole.

Was this guy really going to be our American Idol? One to admire and yearn to be like?

Who yearns and wants to be like Ruben Studdard?
