a completely useless exercise, taz would be to extrapolate based on the 2004 vote totals and the recent poll that showed that 28% of hers would vote for mac and 19% of his would.
based on current national polling, their avgs are 46 for him and 43 for her.
using the 2004 vote totals it would work out to 5 million or 9% of all democrats (4% of total voters) if bammy's do it and 7 million or 12% of all democrats (5% of total voters) if hers go for mac.
way more than enough to ensure a a gop landslide. a 4% shift would have made it 55-44 for bush.
i tend to agree with dg that most of these people will just become disillusioned and not vote or vote for a 3rd party rather than still be angry enough to punch mccain's ticket. but, ya just never know with the convention at the end of august, it could be recent enough and bitter to inspire real change. heh.
