It was on the local independent TV station last night so I sat through the "Legal for LESS!" insurance ads and the "Come to Moo & Oink!" commercials and watched it for the first time. God it was horrible.
Did someone say "Let's remake Murder by Death, but leave out all the jokes?"

I'm sad you didn't like it.
Both are total classics, but I find Clue more quotable.
"I hated her so much, that there were flames...flames on the sides of my face, heaving..breathing...flames..."

Posted: 8/8/09 at 10:23amI didn't laugh but it may have been how surprised I was at how much of it seems to be lifted from Murder by Death. Even the "Pretending to be gay" tough guy and all...

this is my favorite movie of all time
uh and mr. green was not gay pretending to be tough... at all... unless referring to a "pretending to be tough" character and another tough guy character.. but then again there were no tough guy characters in this movie...

You could easily interpret it that way, given the line he says at the end of the third ending.

Posted: 8/8/09 at 12:21pmi guess you could interpret that end line... but saying that one line.. to me... is in no way trying to characterize him as a tough guy... i don't see how you can do that really... that's just stretching it...

Posted: 8/8/09 at 12:30pmI like it. I showed it to my middle-schoolers last year during our mystery unit and they absolutely loved it, which is surprising because they tend to hate everything I like. They thought it was hilarious. We watched each alternate ending a few times because they didn't want me to turn it off.

It's one of my favorites. I, too, find it very quotable.

He was always a rather stupidly optimistic man. I mean, I'm afraid it came as a great shock to hime when he died, but, he was found dead at home. His head had been cut off, and so had his, uh... you *know*.
Wadsworth: But, he was your second husband. Your first husband also disappeared.
Mrs. White: But that was his job. He was an illusionist.
Wadsworth: But he never reappeared!
Mrs. White: He wasn't a very good illusionist.
Wadsworth: You see? Like the Mounties, we always get our man.
Mr. Green: Mrs. Peacock was a man?
Life after death is as improbable as sex after marriage.

"He had threatened to kill me in public."
"Why would he wanna kill you in public?"
"I think she meant he threatened, in public, to kill her."
"Uh, is there a little girl's room in the hall?"
"Oui oui, Madame."
"No, I just wanna powder my nose."
And the best for last...
"I am your singing telegram! BAM!"

This movie is definitely one of my personal favorites.
One of my favorite quotes in the movie is
Mrs. White: He was always a rather stupidly optimistic man. I mean, I'm afraid it came as a great shock to hime when he died, but, he was found dead at home. His head had been cut off, and so had his, uh... you know.
Mrs. White: I had been out all evening at the movies.
Miss Scarlet: Do you miss him?
Mrs. White: Well, it's a matter of life after death. Now that he's dead, I have a life.
"That's a good point. Next time I pee on a Starbucks couch and throw straws and napkins at a barista, I'll just yell, "YOU DON'T KNOW ME OUTSIDE OF STARBUCKS! YOU DON'T KNOW ME AT ALL!" and that should do it. "-LizzieCurry

"Repent! The kingdom of Heaven is at hand!"
"Armageddon is almost upon us!"
"I've got news for you, it's already here!"
Although, the only conclusion that makes sense in terms of the film's continuity is solution number 1. The other 2 have major flaws in continuity, but they are still fun, nonetheless.
