Kristin Chenoweth and recent events

Sep 12, 2025 — 4:29:46 AM

Being disappointed in or boycotting Kristin Chenoweth for saying she agreed with some of the perspectives of a horrendous bigot is not the same as endorsing murder and you know it. She is not owed a career or anyone’s fandom or money. She has to earn them, same as all of us. We have the same freedom of speech to be disappointed and angry with her as you do to clutch your pearls on her behalf. (edited to add missing word “with” in first sentence)

BOOP! TO BE FILMED?

It was a simple reporting of a very factual note of potential filming of this production. Doubt it? 1) who cares 2) go ask the production team, they were put on notice should the funds be raised 3) do not respond - but certain beloved ones can not help themselves.Regardless, they could not find the $1.2 million to film the show, it will close Sunday. No tour, no educational produ...

Linklater’s MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG film recasts Frank

BrodyFosse123 said: "With Merrily, a chunk of the movie is already shot, andBlumhouse is producing it, meaning the budget is probably pretty modest. So the risk mitigation is keeping it low budget and not having to go decades of development without anything to show for it.Linklater’s concept is to film this throughout 20 years. He is filming scenes in fragments every few years. The cast is contractually locked in so whenever he feels the need to film some more, schedules are accommodated. Thi...

ROMEO + JULIET Reviews

Is it though? It’s a production that very purposely isn’t designed for a certain subset of theatergoers and they’re mad.

Question about Pippin's Theo Ending and Deaf West

May 9, 2023 — 9:40:33 PM

I saw the Deaf West production at the Mark Taper Forum and am pretty sure it had the Theo ending. I don't think I've ever seen a production of the show that used the original ending.

Has there been a single musical category where the nominees weren’t Moulin Rouge, Jagged Little Pill, and Tina?

Rights to Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris

Oh god the condition of those band books. And the actor books too. Spent a week with an actor trying to figure out how to muscle memory a melody that went from G up to an E then back down to a B before one of us spotted that it wasn’t an E, it was an A written so sloppily that the flag on top looked like the notehead and the actual notehead was almost imperceptible. It was a fun show but a nightmare to actually rehearse.

Does anyone know when Santino Fontana’s last show in Hello, Dolly! is? Apologies if this has been posted or asked before.

James Goldman's book to Follies

I have never known any musician to be as much of a dick concerning their knowledge of music as you are. The vast majority of pit players, rehearsal pianists, and teachers I've worked with are low-key, pleasant to engage with, generally happy to share or teach, and don't brag about their knowledge (or go out of their way to call themselves a musician as often as you do -- I thought there was nothing more pretentious than referring to oneself as an artist, but then I suppose I have actually lea...

Under-active composers

Right, because nobody actually enjoys any other musical about a historical figure. Not that you don't enjoy any other musical about a historical figure. Not even that you can't see why other people enjoy any other musical about a historical figure. But that no one could enjoy any other musical about a historical figure, despite overwhelming evidence that people actually do? You self-righteous dick.
