This is not about trolls.
I am currently avoiding most animal fat but have used half and half in my coffee for decades! I do not want to use Coffee Mate or any chemical substitute. I tried Almond milk this morning - that did not work.
Any recommendations for best substitute for coffee creamer.

Are you also avoiding lactose in general? If not then skim milk might be a better option for you than soy or almond or one of the "non-dairy" (i.e. chemical) creamers.
I have a vegan daughter. Out of the not great options for coffee, I have found that soy works best. Silk actually makes a Creamer, and that's about as good as I think it gets.
I use hazelnut syrup in my coffee. It gives the same mellow flavor as cream does. I know it doesn't have the color. But if you don't look at it, it has the same effect as cream. If you don't like hazelnut, you might like vanilla syrup or any of the dozens of other flavors available. They even have sugar free versions if that's a consideration.

AEA - not lactose, just fat, but for now am avoiding all dairy. And, I am avoiding most sugar!
I will tray Silk Creamer - I know for sure that soy milk is too thin as I have always HATED skim milk in my coffee.
We've been using non fat half and half for years. It's just as satisfying. I'd rather drink my coffee black than use skim milk.

If you're also watching the amount of sugar then check the label on Silk, as I know it does have some sugar in it (obviously you know how much will be acceptable for yourself), and probably more so if you are doing one of the flavored varieties.
Sugar of some sort (such as corn syrup solids) is often used to replace the fat, so read labels carefully.

Update - I have used many creamers in the last months and have also lost a total of 25 pounds since eliminating dairy and most animal fat.
Sodelicious coconut "cream" is my favorite. Silk "creamer" is fine but has has a hint of "plant" taste.
I use Smart Balance Omega 3 and tofutti for cream cheese. I tried soy cheese on pizza and it stuck to my teeth. I am just going to get over cheese other than tofutti.

"I have a vegan daughter."
Please use this as the title to your memoir!
Daiya makes a good non-dairy cheese. They have shredded chedder, pepper jack, and mozzarella. Uti makes a nice dairy free/gluten free pizza crust. I can't remember the brand name off the top of my head but we use a nice canola butter that spreads very nicely.
brd, if you need a sugar substitute I find this the best. A bit pricey, but if you use it sparely it goes a long way.

Trader Joe's soy cream. Amazing.
Trader Joes Soy cream is ok. But it makes the coffee look weird.
That coffee mate stuff is scary, it's highly combustible.
Yogurt is probably the best substitute for half and half that you can find. Like half and half, it is a dairy product, and because of that has the same creaminess and smooth texture. However, unlike half and half, which is loaded with fat and calories, yogurt can actually be quite healthy. Yogurt contains high amounts of calcium, which keeps teeth and bones strong, and protein, which helps to maintain muscle mass. For the best results, you may want to consider choosing a yogurt that is made from milk that is low or nonfat. While yogurt is already a healthier choice than half and half, cutting out some extra calories will only improve its health status. For a taste that is most similar to that of half and half, choose plain, unsweetened yogurt.
How does one dissolve yogurt in a cup of coffee? I would think even liquid yogurt blend.
Wouldn't the coffee be hot enough to "melt" the yogurt thus making it easy to mix in?
