Posted: 2/24/07 at 3:45pmCan you do college shows without being a part of the Musical Theatre program? I really want to be able to do shows after high school but also want to pursue a career in Sports Management. Whats the deal?

Posted: 2/24/07 at 3:53pmI don't think they'll ever bar you from auditioning for shows, but the chances of you getting a role when you aren't a major may vary with the university - first priority, however, will almost always go to those who are a part of the program. I know my school takes it into account, but will still cast people who aren't majors.

deep-delving, dark, deliberate you would say

like racehorses. We contemplate at last
shining windows, a future forbidden to no one.

first. Wow, way post completely off topic vm. cause you know, that was really neccessay.
second.
Coleen is right. It depends on the school. Some schools have rules about who can audition or participate in shows. At my school, the only people who can't audition are first semester students (because auditions for department shows occur at the end of the previous semester). But even then there are student productions.

Posted: 2/24/07 at 4:16pmI'm at a school with a really good MT program, and though they let non-majors audition, they literally NEVER get cast. I'm not an MT major, but there are still tons of opportunities here. I've been in a show each of my first two semesters so far through student-run groups and such. If you want to perform you'll find a way, regardless of the school.

All I know is, if you DO get involved, you'll probably be VERY popular . . .
