I always thought the show should have Rose's name in the title, but who am I to have a say.
Speaking of Gypsy, I just heard this story not too long ago:
Once during rehearsal, Jerome Robbins walked up to Sondheim and said, "I don't get it, everything's coming up Rose's what?"

Oh, Ok. Then it must not be rude if YOU think so, Matt. Please. It's also far different for someone within the race or religion to refer to themselves in one way, very different for someone outside that group to do the same. There is a "double standard".

Posted: 8/21/04 at 5:50pmThis subject comes up alot--here's my take. Unless it's something way out of the ordinary, say Gary Coleman playing Abe Lincoln, or an all White cast of Dreamgirls, then I say blind is beautiful!

Dreamgirls is one of my favorite musicals EVER but that's the only thing about it that's a con for me
the biggest part I'd get cast as would be one of the Cadillac Car Girls

Posted: 8/21/04 at 5:59pmWell, the two white girls and one white guy in Dreamgirls do get to play a lot of different bit parts throughout the show, though the Dave and the Sweethearts version of "Cadillac Car" is the highlight (and a BRILLIANT moment in the show when you see it live.)
