I always thought the show should have Rose's name in the title, but who am I to have a say.
Speaking of Gypsy, I just heard this story not too long ago:
Once during rehearsal, Jerome Robbins walked up to Sondheim and said, "I don't get it, everything's coming up Rose's what?"

Oh, Ok. Then it must not be rude if YOU think so, Matt. Please. It's also far different for someone within the race or religion to refer to themselves in one way, very different for someone outside that group to do the same. There is a "double standard".

One of my roomates is "african american" and she refers to herself and her family as black. Do you refer to yourself as caucasian or white?

June Havoc did host a picnic at her home in Connecticut for the cast of the 1989 revival, arranged by Tyne Daly. So she doesn't completely distance herself.

This subject comes up alot--here's my take. Unless it's something way out of the ordinary, say Gary Coleman playing Abe Lincoln, or an all White cast of Dreamgirls, then I say blind is beautiful!

Frankly, I don't refer to myself as Irish-Italian-American either. I'm white. It's just saves so damn much time. But anyone who wants to take the time to refer to me that way is more than welcome. I don't freakin care either way.

Dreamgirls is one of my favorite musicals EVER but that's the only thing about it that's a con for me
the biggest part I'd get cast as would be one of the Cadillac Car Girls

Doesn't it, though? And the best color blind casting I ever saw was on Designing Women where the girls put on black face and went as the Supremes. Brilliant!

Well, the two white girls and one white guy in Dreamgirls do get to play a lot of different bit parts throughout the show, though the Dave and the Sweethearts version of "Cadillac Car" is the highlight (and a BRILLIANT moment in the show when you see it live.)

I saw that too, uniq. It was very interesting. However those "men and women of color" really offended me when refering to the difference between their names and "white" names. The word "white" is ours and only we can say it.
