Congrats to Nick Lachey
#0Congrats to Nick Lachey
Posted: 5/18/06 at 11:24pmHis CD made a stunning debut, it was # 2 on Billboard.com, he has a fantastic voice and great taste for music. Best wishes to Nick. His prior CD "Soulo" was excellent, but had dissappointing sales.

Posted: 5/19/06 at 3:04amNot sure how much it sold, but he is a great performer and he also produces and writes a lot. I also think that Jessica is very talented. I still can't believe they broke up. I wish both of these 2 talented artists a lot of success in the music business. Jessica's Irresistible CD was amazing as well as her In This Skin. Most her songs, and many of them unrealeased are amazing.

andrew, the album sold 171,657 copies in its first week in stores and had sold a few hundred copies before that (there are always a few stores that sell CDs early in violation of the street date) for a to-date total of 171,876.
It will almost certainly go gold (albums are eligible for gold certification if at least 500,000 copies are shipped to stores. Since record labels tend to initially ship out somewhere between 3 and 4 times as many CDs as they expect to be sold in the first week in stores, it's highly likely that over 500,000 copies have been shipped out already). Platinum probably depends on how well his next single does at radio and how much of an effort his label makes at keeping his name out there, continuing to book him on TV shows and other public appearances and get him in magazines.
A key figure to keep in mind will be the second-week sales. If those show a decrease of less than 50% from the first-week sales, it's a good sign for the album's longevity and Nick's ability to attract new fans. If the drop-off is more than 50%, and especially if it's more than two-thirds, that's a bad sign, indicating that most of the people who were interested in the CD rushed out to buy it the first week and he's not generating enough new buzz to keep attracting new customers.

I like Nick and I can't stand Jessica so I'm happy that he's moving on in a good way.
