Connie Francis is the Grand Marshal of the San Gennaro Festival Parade in NYC this Saturday
All I ever wanted was a jukebox that plays nothing but Connie Francis.
With all that has gone in her life her theme song could be "I'm Still Here"

And she is still performing. I believe her most recent NY date was about 2 years ago, at The St. George Theatre in Staten Island-the one where SMASH filmed. And she packed the joint!
<3 Connie. When she sings a ballad her voice has this "thing", what I like to call a tear in her throat...she's up there with the very best singers of all time...a true legend in her own time, a fighter and a survivor.
Connie sings the hell out of "Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing"

She sings "Born Free" as if it were the goddamn national anthem or somethin'.

And here's "The Impossible Dream," which she makes sound like the friggin' "Battle Hymn of the Republic":

And "What Kind of Fool Am I," as contrite a confession as she would give to a priest in a box.

And in tribute to her Jewish fans and the State of Israel, Connie does a medley of the theme from "Exodus" and "Hava Nagila":

NOTE: In 1969, the 13-year-old PalJoey insisted to his parents that Connie's version--and only Connie's version--of "Hava Nagila" be used for the traditional Hora at his bar mitzvah. PalJoey's parents couldn't understand why I wanted them to play a record when they had hired a perfectly good bar-mitzvah band with a perfectly good vocalist.
I agree with you 100%, Carlos. Connie Francis is the greatest singer North America has ever exported to the rest of the world. Her unforgettable songs have touched millions of hearts due to her unique voice and heartfelt interpretations. I am very proud to have been her fan for so many years. My life would be a lot emptier without her.

There were 2 singers whos albums were played over and over again in my house growing up...Connie Francis and Jimmy Roselli. I believe the reason was both sang from the heart. You could not only hear, but you could feel the emotions in their voices which could bring grown men to tears. Yes, I grew up in a time where they belived "men don't cry"...well not until you put on Connie Francis singing "Mama" or Jimmy Roselli singing "Little Pal" They are and always will remain 2 of my favorite singers who bring back many fond mmemories of days gone by.
Beautiful woman with a beautiful voice. I have to give props to my mom for introducing me to this amazingly gifted performer. Her voice echoed thru our Bronx apartment when I was growing up.
My mother called her "La Francis"...LOL
