This movie was so f*ckin good.

One of the most intense, exciting, touching, upsetting and meaningful movies I've ever seen.

I don't remember hearing about this movie or anything, but just rented it and it was amazing. Just damn...

Anyone seen this movie? I thought it was such a great movie. I just got done watching it so can't even really explain why, I just need to tell those who haven't seen this, just see it.

Well, just wanted to get that out and see who else has maybe seen this movie.

So for those who have, what did you think?

I think there;s been a thread.

But I agree, this movie was fantastic!

You're right, shira - there was a thread about this film some time ago but I avoided it as I hadn't seen the film at that time. 'Crash' is the best film I've seen so far this year. Apart from being so well-made, the subject matter was so thought-provoking that I found myself going back to it for a long time afterwards. I bought the dvd recently and can't wait to return to it again - I'm sure there'll be things I missed the first time around.

Really? Sorry... I didn't realize. I just needed to post something about this, just because of the impact the movie left. Seriously, it blew me away and I didn't expect what I saw whatsoever.

All the actors did awesome jobs and the story was so good too! I wanna watch it again!

I loved all the performances, esp. Matt Dillon. I thought the car-rescue scene was excellent. I loved the twists of the story - the fact that you weren't always watching what you initially thought.

ok well I think since maybe that thread is far back I'll just let this one keep going then.

As I said, to those who haven't seen it... go see it.

It had so many of my emotions running, the intensity of the entire film and it got you so angry or so upset, it was great.

Definetly in my top movies of the past year, or even of all time since I really can't say my old favorites are the best movies usually.

Definetly gotta come up with a top 10 and get the DVDs. As of now Crash is on that list, along with Eternal Sunshine and the Spotless Mind (LOVED that movie!).

I love movies that totally screw with your mind in terms of thinking you have everything all figured out, only to find out you were totally off. In this case, you think you know exactly who's the good guy, who's the bad guy, who to feel sorry for, etc, and then you just do a complete 180 as the movie progresses. A truly superior performance by every single character, even Ryan Philippe. I haven't seen a movie that's left such a lasting impression as this one has in a very long while...

Yea, they all do a great job...

I personally thought terrence howard did an awesome job.

I don't know the locksmiths name, but I loved him, as well as the small role of his daughter... thought they did awesome.

Ludracris and the other guy did great too, thought they were funny, and the part towards the end with Ryan Phillippe was really good. Even Ryan did a good job there and with his other parts (like with Terrence at that crazy moment).

Terrence's wife annoyed the hell out of me, but she did a good job. She did her role well and I thought the racist cop was awesome too (forget his real name), especially at the car scene. Such a great moment.

I liked Don Cheadle and think he did an awesome job, but I don't think he was a big part of this movie at all. I don't know... anyone agree? He didn't really play a great role or do anything moving. I loved him in Hotel Rwanda and thought he did great and he did well here too, but just didn't think his role was increidbly moving or anything.

I also hated Sandra Bullock, but she did a good job... since she acted liked the perfect obnoxious rich suburban racist white woman. I really didn't feel too bad for her at anytime though, it wasn't her however, more just the actual character.

Overal, freaking awesome movie and awesome performances from everyone, from small to big.

I can't believe I had never heard of this movie... but glad I saw it.

And everyone else should too, it's really a must see.

Terrence's wife: Thandie Newton.

The only performance I didn't love was Brandan Fraser. I just can't take him seriously. His voice is goofy. He'll always be George of the Jungle.

SPOILER.........

I loved this movie and found it letter perfect except for Ms. Bullock's character at the end. Her final statement to her housekeeper did not ring true for me and it reminded me too much of Ms. Daisy's declaration to Hoke(Driving Miss Daisy), which was truth personified.

But it's a minor quibble. I loved this movie.

One of the very few movies I've seen in the theatre this year and I picked a winner.

Good acting and direction, but sometimes it was just too...facile. For every thoughtful statement about race and racism, there was another straight out of the Cliché Handbook. The final scene with the locksmith's daughter- that got me to a "Mimi comes back to life" level off pissed-off.

And I actually really liked Thandie Newton.

Just bought it on DVD and intend to watch it this weekend.

I heard it is amazing. The kind of move that makes you uncomfortable with yourself as you watch.

Have a great weekend all.

I really fail to see the draw with this movie. The script is good, but the entire movie is so unfocused and has no idea what it's trying to say. The ending was completely terrible, and the whole movie was just TRYING to be profound - and clearly some people bought into it. I liked it enough until it stopped making sense - but I can't believe how overrated I thought it was. I'm going to see it again now that it's on DVD, but it's a really pretentious movie.

The best all year, marquise? I'm glad you like it - and Im not being bitchy - but have you seen BROKEN FLOWERS, PROOF, or THE CONSTANT GARDENER yet? To me, they all blow this out of the water.

I agree with you about that, those asians in the back of the van were just weird. And really, the fact that it was 5 stories thrown into one within the same city, etc... I just thought it allowed it to be intense moment after intense moment, rather than a build up, climax, end. It was a small build up, than climax, climax, climax, etc... it just really threw you around and had your emotions running.

THAT is why I enjoyed it. I also just thought the basis of the movie with the racism and all the great moments through out were good.

HOWEVER, I agree, it was a bit unfocused and no clear point was made.

I still thought it was a great movie anyway though.

I agree with Plum and (for once :)) Munkustrap.

I despise this movie. Nothing rang true for me, and the direction and score were headache-inducing.

The ONLY things that I liked were the performances by Howard, Bullock, and Dillon, as well as the sequence where (SPOILER!!!!) Michael Pena and his daughter get "shot". Thandie Newton has gotten great reviews for this, but I found her to be shrill.

Don't discredit me for saying this. I really wanted to love this movie, but that's just how I saw it.

I haven't seen Crash, but as a Ragtime fan, I guess I should. Stories that concern identity politics and feature more than a dozen "main" characters tend to at least pique my interest.

Munk, the Constant Gardener? Is unfocused. Boring. Tried too hard to be profound and failed.
