"PARIS, France (AP) -- Actor Tom Cruise said he and girlfriend Katie Holmes are engaged, after he popped the question early Friday morning atop the Eiffel Tower.

Cruise, speaking at a Paris news conference with Holmes, said: "Yes, I proposed to her.""

Wow. I'm freaked out. And by her sudden "conversion" to that load of crap, but mostly her eagerness to marry that nutjob...

I saw that on the news this morning. A friend of mine and I were chatting about them the other day and decided they deserve each other. When the hell did Katie Holmes get so bizarre?? If she's flakey enough to be lulled into scientology, etc. or is just willing to be a media whore scraping up the excess publicity, knock yourself out, bud. They're both starting to freak me out w/ their weirdness, so I guess can just enjoy each other in their freakishly bizarre way!!!

But when did New Hampshire become--Such a backward wasteland of seatbelt hating crazies?...I mean, only 40 people actually live there. The others are just visitors who come for the tax-free liquor and three inches of novelty coastline. John Hodgeman on The Daily Show (1-30-07)

I don't get it though...isn't it kind of a general rule that over publicity w/ relationships, etc = bad box office receipts?!?! There was just an article about this somewhere (Entertainment Weekly or something), and I thought I heard somewhere the producers of War of the Worlds are less than thrilled about Tom's antics. I know he's making me a lot less thrilled about seeing it/him. I've reached my Cruise-quotient for the summer, thank you very much. I'll probably still go see Batman Begins, because Katie's not enough to detur me from 2+ hours of Christian Bale.

A friend of mine thinks War Of The Worlds is in danger of underperforming at the box office because "that ridiculous shouting gay midget has put everyone off, I shouldn't wonder". I love my friend.

And it was reported on a delightfully bitchy insider website that the reason for Cruise's erratic behaviour of late is that he's stopped taking his ADHD medication.
Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

I think it's all a convoluted PR campaign to help BEWITCHED, the ex-Mrs. Cruise's film opening next week. We'll turn out in droves, offering the sympathy vote to Nicole.

3. This is probably ignorant, but I've never seen a church of Scientology. Do they have churches?

4. This is a VERY dumb question, I'm sure, but is Scientologists similar to Christian Scientists? You know, the people with the reading rooms?
