"Philadelphia Story" - As far as classics go this is not one of my favorites. Must admit Kate is unique, but something about that accent of the rich is an extreme turnoff.

In you intended for this thread to be about The Philadelphia Story exclusively, my apologies; however, earlier today I watched In the Good Old Summertime on TCM. Although it's Pasternak and not up to the standards of Freed, it is still a worthwhile diversion. The cast is uniformly marvelous: Judy Garland, Van Johnson, dear Cuddles Sakall, charming Spring Byington, and woefully underused Buster Keaton, not to mention LIza. It was a joy to watch!

Meet Me in St. Louis was on this weekend and it's still a wonderful musical movie from 1944 with Judy Garland, Margaret O'Brian, Mary Astor, Lucille Bremer, Tom Drake, Marjorie Main, Leon Ames, and Harry Davenport (Dr. Meade from Gone With The Wind).

TCM is my favorite station. Still stuck on the old movies, always will be. To have a station that plays them commercial free is the best. Always thought "The Philadelphia Story" was crap.

This Wednesday TCM is airing two courtroom gems: Witness for the Prosecution and Anatomy of a Murder. If you haven't seen them before, well worth taping and savoring.
