Am I the only one in this planet that thinks she has been treated unfairly. Yes, she has an opinion on gay marriage that I do not agree with, but all she did was respectfully state an opinion that I do not agree with. Is punishing someone for not agree with what I believe the new thing to do in this country. Yes, she stated a stupid opinion.. but she has every right to be stupid and she did not in ANY WAY WHATSOEVER do anything to slap the gay community in the face.

She LOVES the attention and has invited it all on her own.

She could have answered the question in a very neutral manner where she did not offend anyone. This is why they have coaches,to prevent them from answering questions the way she did. She is a dumb tart!

She is representing the state of California and was competing in a national pageant. She gave a divisive answer but is now using her fame and title to speak out against gay marriage.FYI, do you know how many gay men watch these pageants? They make up a good portion of the audience,so pissing them off is not a smart move.

She is getting what she deserves and will hopefully be dethrowned, not for her opinion but for being stupid and lying to Pageant officials.

So no, I WILL NOT Cut the bimbo any slack!

As much as many members of the gay community support pageant systems, (hell, gay men trained 95% of pageant girls) she should have answered the question asked and not taken the opportunity to share her personal opinions. Think before you speak. I thought she was getting a raw deal until she was asked to introduce someone at the Christian Music Awards and got a mostly standing ovation. She has plenty of supporters. She doesn't need anyone to back off.

The fact that she has alligned herself with an organization that is against gay marriage, I'm certainly NOT going to cut the skank any slack.

I'm not sure what exactly you think is being done to her. Is she being denied housing or benefits?

She stated her opinion. Many in the gay communities have stated theirs in response. Many anti-gay groups have stated theirs.

Do you mean gay people need to stop expressing their displeasure at her statement? Why, exactly?

Now this is a defense post (for PalJoey, who doesn't seem to know the difference). I don't care if they don't cut her any slack, but where's the outrage and hatred over the president, vice-president and secretary of state, who all share the same opinion; and, are positions that matter? Why the F does anyone care what MISS California thinks? Fake outrage. It's ridiculous.

Stop it stop it stop it STOP IT! I am so sick of hearing about what "Miss California" thinks or what she did today. She is nothing, nobody. When you post about her, talk about her, read about her, you give weight to her totally inconsequential thoughts. I'm done.

JB2, I don't know how you're missing it. I've seen plenty of outrage at the president's position, both in the gay press (at least) and on this board.

If you mean why wasn't it enough to cause Democrats to switch parties, that's a silly question.

So wait, addressing the gay community and clarifying that she does not intend to offend any of them is STILL not respectful enough. And if I work for regal cinemas, and tomorrow a statistic comes out saying that 90% of the people who attend Regal Cinema theaters do crack... that means I should support the legalization of crack?!?! I'm sorry, Ms. California has been unfairly treated by YOU on this board, by Perez Hilton, and half of the American media.

I just find it ridiculous that she is defending her naked pics and yet is still trying to look like the (as Rosie once put it) the Moral Compass for the US. Furthermore, her question was if the she thought Gay marriage was something the states should decide upon, and she didn't answer the question but rather gave her opinion on Gay Marriage in general.

While I agree personally, JoeKv (I don't care if she lives or dies), she matters because she's become a rallying figure for anti-gay groups who see her as a martyr for the cause.

I found no threads dedicated to hatred and name-calling of the democratic nominees for president. If you can point me to one, I'd appreciate it. There are many on Miss California. I also saw no video posted by Prez Hilton name-calling these nominees at the time they expressed the exact same opinions. If you can point me to it, I'd appreciate it. What are YOU missing?

Well, it seems like her saying "no offense" really meant "I could care less if you are offended or not and I'm just saying no offense so that later I can cover my a**" which doesn't really scream "respectful" to me. She may be a blonde bimbo but I'm sure even she knew that giving the answer she did would cause an uproar on both sides of the issue which could have been avoided had she answered differently with something more neutral.

My point is, people that help us get on our feet every day engage in acts we disagree with, that does not mean that we have to support their actions.

In HER mind (NOT MY MIND) homosexuality is 'an act she disagrees with', much like how most of us disagree with crack smoking.

what slack needs to be cut?

thus far, she has broken two major rules of the pageant.

1: NO NUDE PHOTOS. pretty cut and dry if you ask me.

2: She is not allowed to make public appearances without permission of the pageant board. I have seen her way too much on all three network morning news shows, fox, cnn, you name it. and she was not granted permission for any of these appearances.

So she SHOULD lose her crown based on breaking at least two major rules of the pageant that she signed on for. I don't give a rat's rump what her opinion is; good for her for standing up for her personal beliefs.

But them's the rules. You break 'em, you gotta go.

she should be cut slack for clearly breaking protocol?

I don't requre anything. I was just making an observation on how preposterious I found the outrage and hatred over what a meaningless beauty-pageant contestant said, compared to the people running for president of the united states. It's just strange to me. That's all. And nobody agreed. Everybody who responded said there was the same reaction, and I called that FALSE. There is no proof of that. I can prove what was said about this Miss California, because it's all over these boards and the internet. If it weren't, I'd have no clue what she said. I don't watch beauty-pageants. I do watch presidential candidate debates, howeverr.

"I'm sorry, Ms. California has been unfairly treated by YOU on this board, by Perez Hilton, and half of the American media."

OK, let see if I got it. She comes out and says she has more rights than I do. She is entitled to marry but I am not, because I am a sinner. She says this on national television and to the gay man who asked the question.

You have pretty big balls to tell me I am treating her unfairly? To the OP, I mean no disrespect, but You are just as dumb as she is and a complete idiot.I guess that's the way you were raised, but I mean no offense by saying that at all. Seriously, you just don't get it.

lol, no. Her actions following the "statement of opinion" have done nothing to win her the respect necessary to call off the hounds.

JohnBoy2, don't be willfully ignorant. Of course there's a double standard between the treatment of Miss California and the treatment of our spineless Democratic leaders. She's entirely lacking in eloquence or consequence of any sort, so of course she's a patsy. You don't attack an important politician the same way you attack a media joke like Miss California or Joe the Plumber or Sarah Pal...oh, wait.

People here have stated displeasure with the administration's handling of gay issues many many times. A different manner is used, because a different manner is called for.

Right. The different manner is to vote for them! But, if nobody gave this meaningless contestant any attention, she'd be a distant memory to those who watched.

Excuse me but I am all for gay marriage, have the greatest amount of respect for gays and I have been surrounded by wonderful gay people my entire life. She came out and stated her opinion and YOU didn't like it. She gave a moronic answer and had EVERY right to be a moron. She RESPECTFULLY stated her answer, that's why I don't get this angry response. When people disagree with us, we need to put our big-boy pants on and deal with it. She didn't act aggressive towards the gay community, she didn't use hurtful terms in her answer, she didn't state that '"she's better than the gays", she has never tried to be the moral compass of america.

And as far as my 'crack' metaphor.

I didn't say homosexuality is equal to crack smoking!!! I compared something WE disagree with to something SHE disagrees with!

My problem is that she chose to ignore the question and give her personal opinion. Then when the semi-nude photos came out, she responded like an illiterate moron and lied to boot. You put yourself out there, you deserve what you get.
