What a crappy cast.

Jennifer Lopez as Sue Ellen Ewing, Luke Wilson is negotiating to play Bobby Ewing, John Travolta has an offer to star as J.R. Ewing and Shirley MacLaine is down for the part of Miss Ellie Ewing

It's a little early for April Fool's Day.

Wow! Sounds like the perfect movie to miss.

Sue Ellen is my favorite character from that show and it requires an actor to play the part. JLo no, no, no, no, no.

John Travolta is not intimidating enough for JR. There's no danger there. And while I like Shirley MacLaine, she just doesn't seem right for Miss Ellie.

So what part will Ice Cube be playing?

Couldn't agree more. Kevin Spacey would be a better JR. Julia Roberts for Sue Ellen.

Actually Shirley would be perfect for JR and Travolta could play Miss Ellie ala Edna Turnblad. Sounds like a winner to me.

It should be Russell Crowe as JR and Rosemary Harris as Miss Ellie.

My dream cast would be:

Jock Ewing: V.P. Dick Cheney
Miss Ellie: Gena Rowlands
J.R. Ewing: Senator Trent Lott or Chazz Palmieri
Sue Ellen Ewing: Sharon Stone or Kim Catrall
Bobby Ewing: Aidan Quinn or John Travolta or Russell Crowe
Pam Barnes Ewing: Terri Hatcher
Cliff Barnes: George H.W. "Dubya" Bush
Donna: undecided
Lucy Ewing: Kristin Chenoweth or Diana Degarma
Ray Krebb: Robert Downey, Jr., George Clooney, or Val Kilmer

Note: all the folks here with the exception of Diana Digarma are probably a little long in tooth to be casted in this movie as I've picked them.

I don’t see this trend reversing anytime soon considering that the major studios desperately depend on overseas receipts, merchandising, and network/cable/satellite TV licensing deals to make back their money. They can hardly survive off domestic box office receipts alone so picking material from TV land for adaptation to screen is a safe bet. They'll in turn sell the product right back to TV land. That precious demographic that Hollywood panders to has probably never see an episode of the series ‘Dallas’ or any other from that era so to some it’s a novel concept. Brace yourselves for ‘Charlie's Angels 10: Charlie Revealed’ replete with cameo by Farrah Fawcett-Majors-Whatever lol.

OMG, we cannot forget about casting someone in the role of Kristin Shepard played by Mary Crosby, i.e. the chick that shot J.R. That cliffhanger left more Americans in suspense than the Supreme Court's decision in Gore v. Bush (2000).

Do they still make shoulder pads big enough to make this movie?

Gena Rowlands give the same perf in film after film.

Kevin Spacey is a bad actor. Mannered and stiff. When he comes out I will take him seriously.

Maureen Stapleton ironically would have been a great Miss Ellie.

How about Judi Dench and Brian Dennehy as Miss Ellie and Jock?

She is too old but Jessica Lange would be great as Sue Ellen.

J.R.? Eric Bana.

Bobby? Mark Ruffalo.

Lucy? Reese. Or maybe Britney.

Pam? Anne Hathaway

Sue Ellen? Felicity Huffman

we have been lobbying very hard to have this movie filmed here (in Dallas) but last i heard they were doing it on a lot in Hollywood - does that make ANY sense?

Bad, bad idea. There's no way the'll ever be able to match the wonderment of that original cast.

on a local radio morning show (Kidd Kraddick in the Morning on KISS-FM) they had some better ideas about a cast.

JR: Bruce Willis, he's got that sexy, bad, evil thing
Sue Ellen: Sharon Stone, no one can play old and drunk like her
Lucy: Jessica Simpson, with LOTS of acting lessons
Bobby: Matthew McConaghey
Pam: Jessica Alba
Miss Ellie: ?
