The quality of dancing tonight was so disappointing. The freestyles really didn't show anything that anyone had learned over the last two months. I wish Mel's had been better. I feel like they were trying to do a lot of things at once, and it lacked cohesiveness. Helio's freestyle was just okay, at least it was better than that sloppy jive. And I'm not sure what to say much about the Freaky Doll Dance. I want Jennie back so badly.

It wouldn't surprise me if Marie won tonight, especially after all the articles I've read as of late. Apparently wherever she's been hawking her dolls has been sending out weekly e-mails to all their customers to vote for her. According to one article, "you do the math".

Her dancing last night was attrocious and her constant, "I'm a doll designer" crap worked my last nerve. It was funny how Tom Bergeron made a comment after her constant "plug" of her dolls.

I just saw the episode on ABC.com How did Marie make it to the finals? The other two were leagues better than her.

As has been discussed in this thread, she has a huge fanbase that the others, fairly new in the business compared to her, can only dream of. Not only that, her personality shines when she's on the floor. Not the most technically proficient, but certainly better than good enough, and always a pleasure to witness.

Compared to the other weeks, last night was definitely Marie's weakest (IMO).

I didn't get to see it, but when I have seen her, I've always been smiling through the entire routine. That's what people vote for as much as techical proficiency.

I've been reminded of late why I loved the Donny and Marie show - the sheer joy that she exudes when in front of the camera.

Rath, I like her, too, but her routines last night were truly poor. Like I said earlier, all the contestants seemed to have more challenging and entertaining routines throughout the competition, but they were absent last night.

I believe you, Dottie. I was responding to billygoatgirl's question as to how she got into the finals. If she wasn't good last night, I'm glad I didn't see it!

You're kind of lucky you missed it. What a disappointing way to end one of the most enjoyable runs of this show. It really made me miss Jenny, too.

The one I don't get in the finals is Helio. I don't think it's right that he's there and Jennie is gone. And Sabrina of course, it goes without saying that she should be there over all of them.

I totally agree about Sabrina. I like Helio, but will admit I did not like his routines last night. Jenny improved week after week, but obviously her fan base wasn't enough to get her through. You also have to remember the car racing fans who are most likely voting for Helio. What it boils down to is a popularity contest. What a striking difference to the season when Apollo Anto Ono won (and most deservedly so).

These things always boil down to popularity. Sometimes the most popular also happen to be the most talented. But that's not usually the way.

I persoanlly dont think Sabrian (WHO I LOVED)Mel B or Marie should have been allowed on the show. The pt of the show is to TAKE NON EXPERIENCED DANCERS and turn them int dancers. They've all had experience.

Okay, if Marie is out first, I'm not watching two hours of this.

ETA: Was Helio really that good?

Okay, they've actually found a way to up the cheese factor. Who the hell did Celine's makeup? The eyes and the lips are two TOTALLY different looks.

Helio had a couple of "off" dances during the season, but for the most part I thought he was good.

I was asking about last night - when he got such a huge response. I didn't know if that was a relative thing.

Okay I'm watching Marie leave and then I'm switching to something else.

Rath, Helio's first dance last night was probably his worst of the season. He was really out of sync and at one point he stopped.

I also felt that Mel B's scores for her free style where higher than they should have been. Even she was surprised.

Okay, I'm still watching. When Sabrina and Mark dance, you can't tell which one is the "non-pro".

Mel B should have won. She's the best non-pro, with the possible exception of Sabrina (I didn't really start watching regularly until she was already voted off).

That being said, at least it wasn't Marie. Helio was a good, sometimes very good dancer. But lets not ignore the obvious...that his success was the "golden ticket"...Julianne. That girl is amazing and made Helio look all that much better. Helio benefitted from her amazing choreography and presence.

She needs her own damn show.

She is fantastic. I have said before that it looked as if she was leading herself. Helio really lucked out - she was doing both their jobs.

Didn't her partner win last year too?

Mel should have won, but her dances on Monday were not that good. I gave the first round to her and the second round to Helio.

He takes some heat on here, and I'm not sure why. His dances are much more difficult than many others, especially in the footwork. Maks and Julianne are the best choreogs out there as well. (I still cant believe she is so young!)

I expected Mel to win, as she was the best dancer overall once Sabrina was kicked off, but Helio won, imo because he had NEVER danced before...or performed for that matter, noone was expecting it, and he and Julianne lit up the floor (much like Apollo she did last year...tho Apollo was better than Helio.) That is why so many sports stars have won or were runners up. I expected Mel and Sabrina to be somewhat proficient given their backgrounds...Helio, Apollo, Emmett, not so much.

Marie got the "she's really good for her age" ticket to the finals.

Jennie had only two good dances all season, imo.

He takes heat from me at least because I saw Julianne doing his work for him whenever I watched. I was never impressed with him (in the few episodes I saw, admittedly).
