Posted: 7/28/06 at 12:21pmNo, filming for OotP is supposed to be finished before the end of the year. He has some time off, there's no reason why he can't do both.

Posted: 7/28/06 at 12:22pmTrue, but that means he won't be around to do the publicity for it. But, at least he is trying new things.

Regarding the Harry Potter movies, Warner Brothers recognizes that the movies now have a more adult tone as it comes closer to wrapping up. There are deaths and plot points too extreme for the original audience of "The Philosopher's Stone". It is evident in their licensing for the OotP as well.
Any nudity in Equus, should Dan choose to do that, shouldn't affect audience perception of him in the Harry Potter role. Besides, despite the huge publicity the play is going to get, only a very small part of the Potter audience will actually see him live on stage.

Posted: 7/28/06 at 12:53pmI actually think choosing a role like Alan, and a medium unlike the films, is a smart move for him if he can get good reviews. It would show great versatility and garner him some respect as a mature actor instead of a child performer.

spider, I don't think the Potter films need too much publicity. Even if he does a lot less PR for the movies, they will still be huge hits

I can imagine parent's going, "oh this looks like a nice show we can take the kids to. It even has the kid who play's Harry Potter in it." They will be in for a suprise.

Posted: 7/30/06 at 12:10amMy first time seeing the original Broadway production was with my mother and sister when I was about 13 or 14. We had third-row center orchestra seats. Now THAT was a memorable and interesting experience. I thought my poor mother would never recover.

I am THERE. Absolutely. I have to see this.
I really wish I'd seen Tom Hulce in this. It's such an interesting show.

Posted: 7/30/06 at 3:56amSince they've already started to capitalize on Mr. Radcliffe's 'development' - the bathtub scene, anyone? - they can hardly complain if it becomes a point of discussion outside the Potter universe.

I'd really like to see this, and I think Daniel will do really well.
I think it's funny that two of the Harry Potter cast members are in this. Is Emma Watson playing the girl?

But it will last forever in the minds of teen girls in the audience.
That is a stage door I would not want to be near!
