Who do you expect to pay for a date?
Personally, I think its whoever asks. If I ask somebody out, I'm going to pay.
I don't do the whole double dutch thing.
if its a first date, i personally feel more comfortable splitting the check. i dont want someone i barely know (if thats the case) paying for me. and i dont want to pay for someone i barely know.
also, taking turns paying is nice. thats what i like to do, except alot of my ex boyfriends were *gentlemen* and they insisted that they pay. i dont know, i just dont like other people paying for me constantly.
also, i guess just in general it should be a rule that whoever asks, pays.

I have been seeing someone for six months now. We split it the first few dates, and now we alternate.
I think that was one of the reasons I have an ex -- I wouldn't let him pay for everything. It's cause I'm a control freak.
I would say for the first few dates until you are really comfertable with each other, then you go dutch. After that, is a different story.
Then again..I haven't been on a date in a LOOONG times, so maybe i am not the best person to listen to about these things.

Usually what my boyfriend and I do is alternate and sometimes double dutch. If it's a movie and then coffee double dutch and then coffee it's usually been me who pays. Although he likes to pay for the whole thing sometimes so there you go. I find double dutch the easiest.
nevermind sorry
Sweeties... "going dutch" means splitting the tab.
"Double Dutch" is a jump-rope game.
I'm expensive. And spoiled to the core.
In the future, I expect my partner to pay for EVERYTHING.

My situation was a little different I guess. My boyfriend(now husband) was in the army so he had to drive up to see me and get a hotel (I was in the dorms at the time) so he would pay for the hotel and I would pay for the movie or dinner. He would try to insist on paying for more stuff when we first started dating, but I didn't feel that it was fair for him to have to spend all that money on gas (Louisiana to Kentucky is a 12 hour drive), then a hotel to see me then add our dates on top of it. He finally gave in. Now that we are married it doesn't matter- it all comes from the same account.
