"Fallon is not the shiny new thing. Fallon is Fallon. He is doing nothing different at 11:30 than he was doing at 12:30."
He's the shiny new thing at 11:30. A lot of Leno's audience at 11:30 did not watch him at 12:30. They're not the "cool crowd" from the east and west coasts. They're older, more conservative Midwesterners. They are still deciding what they think of him. Besides, new shows almost always do well in their initial 3 months. Seth Meyers numbers are much higher for the 12:30 show than Fallon got in the same period last year. I'm not wishing Fallon to fail, just saying that ratings during the initial "curiosity period" for a new show or an old show in a new time period aren't guaranteed to stay at those levels six months or a year down the road. Time will tell.

New York now has The Tonight Show aa well as Late Night. I always liked that one used to be West Coast based because, as they say in GYPSY, "New York is the center of New York".
I watched Fallon twice and quickly became bored with him, so I hope they hire Craig Ferguson and move the whole thing out here to LA and just make the theatre in New York into another Broadway house.
