This will air in the UK on Christmas Day; we get it in April:
Hamlet Preview

Yeah!
David is awesome.
Yummy! Thanks for posting it!
Cannot wait!! I saw this in the West End last christmas with Tennant's understudy who I THINK is Laertes in this version (who was a wonderful Hamlet) but cannot wait to see Tennant's take.
Ed Bennett, who is indeed Laertes and was indeed a wonderful Hamlet. And I know I'm not alone in preferring Bennett's take on the role to Tennant's. XD If you're in the vicinity of the Old Vic's Bridge Project for 2010, check it out! He'll be playing Ferdinand in The Tempest and Oliver in As You Like It and he really truly is a terribly wonderful actor. :3
Right, now to try toning back my memories of the stage production a little so I can make a proper judgement on this teeny wee snippet of the filmed version. Floor looks appropriately shiny. Have they really put Zoe Thorne in a dress?
Someone I know who is high up at PBS got sent the last 95 minutes from BBC today.
She said it was amazing.
And she also said I'm permitted to watch it!!
It's 'by invite only', apparently, so she can show it to anyone she deems (trust)worthy. So I may be seeing it tomorrow, or very soon!

Don't watch the last half if you haven't seen the first half yet! I must agree with Weez - I preferred Bennett, he raged and burned but was so centred and intriguing, without the mania Tennant can sometimes overdo. He is tremendous, though Tennant is also fantastic. Can't wait for the Bridge Project! Updated On: 11/11/09 at 09:09 PM
Oh, but I love spoilers!
And for some reason (I didn't ask why), she only has the second half as of right now. So it's that or nothing. I'm not sure if they'll be sending her the other half before the whole thing airs in the UK.

Seeing that snippet only makes me more angry Broadway got the Jude Law Hamlet.
I agree, Chrys, but look at it this way -- if the RSC production had come to Broadway, we might not have had this performance preserved forever on film.
*EXCITED*
The Jude Law HAMLET currrently on Broadway is terrific - one of the best productions I've seen ....... and I can't wait to see Tennant!
I'm not disputing that it may be one of the best productions you've ever seen, but it's far from terrific. Well, maybe if you're only looking at the set, lighting, and sound and ignoring those pesky actors...

I was not generally a fan of the current Broadway HAMLET except for Jude Law who surprised me with his energy and irony. I look forward to seeing Tennant as well, although this tiny clip did not seem particularly promising. Does everyone in this production over-pronounce their words?

I don't see anyone over-pronouncing? They're just enunciating clearly...
I didn't think anyone was over-pronouncing either.
I saw the production with Bennett and loved it, but this clip seems a little awkward to me. I think it's something about the camera angles maybe.
I think it might seem odd, because it is like we opened the door in the middle of a conversation. I think it was the wrong clip to show.
Saw some clips today via my connections. I saw 'To be or not to be', 'What a piece of work is man', 'Alas, poor Yorick', Hamlet's death, and a few other bits.
AMAZING. I'd give details, but I don't know how you guys feel about spoilers on how it was filmed.
The way 'To be or not to be' was shot is very cool. And many actors overact the soliloquy, but David completely underplayed it and it was brilliant.
I'm ALL for spoilers on how it was filmed! But if everyone else says "nay", then I order you to drop me a PM.
Is it April yet?
I saw it in the west end in january with Tennant and december with Ed Bennett, the production was amazing and both actors were great in the role.
I am going to a preview showing of this at the british film institute on the 14th Dec, can't wait!
