Did Anyone Watch HBO's VITO?
#1Did Anyone Watch HBO's VITO?
Posted: 7/26/12 at 4:59pmI found Vito's book "The Celluloid Closet" when I was a 12 year old film nerd and it completely changed my life. I thought this was a really fascinating look at a man who's work really helped to shape who I am & I was curious to know if anyone else saw it.

I did, and actually was going to post about it-- A fabulous documentary. The Celluloid Closet meant a lot to me as a teen as well--I discovered it very shortly before the documentary adaptation came out. But I admit I didn't know all that much about Russo, except that he pops up in nearly any book about New York gay men in the 70s and 80s (Eminent Heroes, etc).
I knwo this had been making the gay film fest rounds for a while, so I was glad to have the opportunity to finally see it. A really compassionate and brave man. Really recommended to anyone.
