I thought the same thing. If she was indeed referring to a lesbian partner, then it's the first I heard. But if so, I wouldn't call it a "coming out." She said it so casually. It wasn't an announcement.

Reminds me of that GOLDEN GIRLS episode where Dorothy's lesbian friend had a partner named Pat and the other girls thought Pat was a man.

Didn't her male partner go missing for a long time after the Tsunami? So was that some other mainstream celebrity that was missing someone...

That doesn't mean she wasn't 'coming-out'

I mean yeah it's a bit silly. But take say, Gary Beach (surprise surprise I know, but don't drown me out.) Apparently, he accidently slipped something about his partner during an interview one time, and read it over later and was like 'hm, look at that!' And before had never officially revealed he was a homosexual.
So I mean, just because it was casual, maybe it was an accident or she doesn't think it's a big deal.

From 1996, Newton-John lived together with gaffer/cameraman Patrick McDermott. However, on June 30, 2005, directly before her new album Stronger Than Before hit stores, McDermott went missing following a fishing trip off the coast of California. The Coast Guard has not ruled out the possibility of foul play but concedes that they have few leads. Olivia, who was vacationing at her self-owned Gaia Retreat & Spa in Australia at the time, is not a suspect. [1]

Fox News Network reported on June 4, 2006, that some witnesses claim to have seen McDermott alive and well in Mexico. A theory is that he staged his disappearance in order to avoid court proceedings brought by an ex-wife concerning child support payments. Newton-John has refused to comment on such speculation.

Wikipedia.... thinks come and go so quickly there! Not two seconds ago I read "Newton-John was married to Matt Lattanzi from 2005 to present. They had one child during their marriage, a girl named Chloe Rose Lattanzi, born in 1986. The math was leaving me mind-boggled - but when I went back just now to copy and paste it here, it had already been altered to read "from 1984 to 1995"

Now I'm resisting the urge to edit in "facts" about her having a wiener or worshiping Satan.

Pat Farrar and Olivia started out in the business together as a duo when they were very young. Pat Farrar has been married to former Shadow, songwriter and record producer John Farrar for many, many years.

She meant business partner.
