Depanding on the age of the child, this one is getting huge thumbs up reviews.

If your niece is older, say maybe in her teens, you can go to www.tigerdirect.com. They good cameras for a fairly good price.

A few weeks ago I was able to find the Fisher-Price Kid-Tough camera on sale at Target for $56 or $57. They had one model that was a Target Exclusive, meaning the colors were red and grey and included a bonus memory stick.

Rest in peace, Iflitifloat.

We didn't have digital cameras when I was a kid. We had regular Kodak 126 cameras and it took a week to get pictures developed. And we liked it!

I don't even have a digital camera, other than my phone. And Fisher-Price makes them? Good Lord.

Carrying on Joe's crochety post, when I was a kid we had play cameras with fake pictures.

When I was a kid, the camera was made of stone and there was a bird inside that pecked out the picture, while holding up his thumb.

If it's the same niece you showed us the pictures of, isn't she a little young?

Joe, speak for yourself, I NEVER liked waiting for pix!
I loves my digital cameras, all 6 of them!

My question Suzy is why does a young child need a camera at all?

I want to know the picture quality of the Fisher Price camera! I'm in the market for a new digital camera since I left my last job and that one sounds like fun. If the pictures come out halfway decent I might just get one.

Poo. I know the trend in technology is smaller and slimmer, but if I could find a good quality digital camera in a casing to resemble vintage Viewfinders from my childhood I'd be totally sold. Surprising no one has jumped on the "nostalgia" bandwagon yet in that market.

See? I think a line of quality digital cameras in vintage casings would have quite a market. I had an old Kodak 110 growing up and I loved it. Plus the original Polaroid casing in white with the stripes as well as the Viewfinders I already mentioned? Someone's missing an opportunity here.

with digital cameras Wonder, smaller is in. Especially for those who travel. Vastly different than other areas of life where BIGGER is in, lolol
Two good ones for you

and this one, the Z610
http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.jhtml?pq-path=8824&pq-locale=en_US&_requestid=7553

All of my pix from Europe were taken on the V603, amazing pix and fits in my pocket, and I paid nowhere near list price at Costco.

The Z612 is a bigger camera, almost an SLR, but not quite.
None of these are suitable for a child

Yeah, but if I had the option I'd go for a digital replica of an older camera in a heartbeat if only for the nostalgia and camp value.

And DD, who's holding that camera in that photo - the giantess from Into The Woods? My dad's camera was three times that size!

Kodak EasyShare's are good. And they are really simple to use. How old is she?

It's so cool... and 5 MP not too shaby, eh?

Apparently it's a miniaturized shell of the "legendary" Leica M3, not that I'd ever heard of it.

I believe seeing a really tiny hello kitty camera at urban outfitters for under $50. It look as it were something appropriate for a child, given that it's plastic-like and somewhat durable looking. However, every portable and small.

You could get a less expensive camera perhaps, a slightly older more durable model. You honestly don't need anything more than 3.2 megapixels, unless you plan on making huge posters. Canon lenses kick ass.
