I actually see her point on this (though she needs to move on.) The original demo that was offered to Warwick did sound vastly different--much more like the country stuff Bacharach and David were doing for male vocalists at the time. She turned it down and then they used the Bacharach/David/Warwick formula when they made it with DeShannon.
I can only imagine the bitch fit Dionne threw when De Shannon's version was released and became a hit.
Well it was only a few years later that she dropped Bacharach/David and sued them...

I believe because she was waiting for material for an album and this was when David/Bacharach were fighting and not writing together.
