As for the actors looking like their characters, allthatjazz, a friend who voiced one of the princesses tells me she did days of modeling, even rudimentary staging with the other actors, while the Disney animators sketched her.
In the finished film, it is quite obvious that the image is based on the actress, especially when the character moves. (The subtlety was even more obvious when the film was re-released in 3D.)
Wow! Really interesting story, Gav! I kind of imagined that some of the characters were modeled after their actors, but it's good to know for a fact.

Just had the pleasure of meeting the most vibrant 86 year old I've ever met in my life, the legendary Pat Carroll aka Ursula, the Sea Witch.

Barbara Jo Allen (also known as Vera Vague) voiced Fauna in Sleeping Beauty. (Always my favorite of the three.)

Great photos!
In addition to 101 Dalmatians and The Sound of Music (Capt .Von Trapp's singing voice), Bill Lee was also one of The Mellowmen, who were a quartet that sang together on many Disney soundtracks and also theme park music for the rides (Alice In Wonderland, Peter Pan, Mary Poppins, etc.)
He also dubbed Lt. Cable's singing voice in the movie South Pacific and one of the brothers in Seven Brides For Seven Brothers. Pretty cool career.

This kids at my school watched 'The Jungle Book' today and so I wanted to post a couple of photos of the actors who gave great voice acting performances.
Sebastian Cabot (Bagheera in 'The Jungle Book', Sir Ector in 'The Sword & the Stone', and the narrator of the 'Winnie the Pooh' cartoons)
The legendary Louis Prima (King Louie in 'The Jungle Book')

Richard Haydn (Caterpillar in Alice in Wonderland and "Uncle" Max Detweiler in The Sound of Music)
Betty Lou Gerson (Cruella DeVil) was also the voice of the narrator in Cinderella.
Great to see this thread pop up again. Love the new additions!
On a Island with You was on TV not long ago. I tried to find a clip of Katherine Beaumont in the film on YouTube but no dice.

The Seven Dwarfs
Roy Atwell (Doc)
Billy Gilbert (Sneezy)
Pinto Colvig (Grumpy and Sleepy)
Otis Harlan (Happy)
Scotty Matraw (Bashful)
Eddie Collins (who provided vocal effects and was the live action model for Dopey)
Mickey Rooney's character is Tod (old English word for fox), not Todd.
Mel Blanc (intended to be Gideon in Pinocchio, his part was cut save for one sneeze. It was the only time Blanc ever worked for Disney.)
And no list of Disney voice actors is complete without this man:
Jim Cummings (Ray in The Princess and the Frog, Razoul in Aladdin and the sequels, and Pete in A Goofy Movie, as well as the singing voice of Scar, Powhatan, and Rasputin in Fox's Anastasia. He is also the current voice of Tigger and all of Sterling Holloway's characters. Jim Cummings is the Marni Nixon of animation.)

Last night on 'Dancing with the Stars', Donny Osmond said he was the voice of Captain Shang from 'Mulan'.
He was actually the singing voice of Captain Shang.
B.D. Wong was the speaking voice of Captain Shang.
I'm going to post this picture for teens who did not know who did the speaking voice of Scar from 'The Lion King'. He said some things about gay marriage that upset some people. So I was skeptical about posting it. However, I will put the photo of him here just for people who did not know who did the dialogue for Scar and he was excellent in the role.
Jeremy Irons (Speaking voice of Scar)

Missed this first time out - loving the pictures. Mention of Bill Lee reminds me that he as one of the voice artists mentioned in a documentary I saw a few months back about Hollywood's dubbers - I'm sure there was very little in there that you guys don't already know, but it was ace - worth a look if you can find it anywhere.
