I loved this movie. I think any Tartantino fan will like it as well. I thought all the performances were great but for me it was Christop Walz and Samuel Jackson that really stood out. Kerry Washington was also very good but her role didn't offer much screen time.
I did not stay until the end of the credits Artman. If I had read your post before seeing it, I certainly would have. Now I want to see the movie again!

I thought it was fine. Entertaining. I feel like Tarantino wanted it to be more than what it was- but let's face it, slavery was just a pretense for his first loves, violence and revenge.

Pushdabutton, it's a very brief scene. PM me if you want me to tell you. Also, Waltz's part, I don't consider supporting. He's in the movie almost as much as Jamie Foxx. He's very good, but I guess his competition for Best Actor is too crowded. I guess if this is the only way to get into a nomination. I think, however, Samuel L. Jackson, will get the nomination, over the other two.

Posted: 1/6/13 at 5:58pmI agree ArtMan. I think Foxx and Waltz had equal screen time and there characters were equally important. I would consider both for best actor nominations but as good as Foxx was, Waltz's performance was better (just my opinion). I agree that there's too many candidates for best actor this year and there is no way both would be considered. Samuel Jackson should absolutely be considered for a best supporting actor nomination. If not, I feel he was overlooked.

Posted: 1/20/13 at 1:14pmI saw it last night and I guess I was just left feeling a little shruggy. Too long by far. Too meandering. Decent performances, though.

Did not realize so many former stars were in it including Franco Nero the original Django.
Now I want to see the original with Nero. It was banned back than due to excessive violence.
Mrs R is not a western fan but she loved it as well. From what I have read about the original it makes this look like Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm in terms of graphic violence

Posted: 1/20/13 at 7:32pmDjango, the original, played at Film Forum not too long ago. December, IIRC. The local cult movie theater in my area is playing that and its sequel in February. I hope it is the dubbed version because that is hilariously bad.

Posted: 1/22/13 at 5:43amYou guys are aware that the original Djangos and Django Unchained are only related in-name-only, right?

Posted: 1/22/13 at 9:06amOf course! Though Quentin clearly has a fondness for the spaghetti western if he used the name, has used the music theme, and has Franco Nero making a cameo.
