I guess if I ate 40 pieces at the same time, and wanted to be surrounded by screaming brats and their parents (who do not control them) I'd feel the same way, but fortunately I usually only have a single piece, and we have much better cheesecake at two delis here......

I used to love it, but I haven't been in years. Well we went the other night and was less than impressed. My food was greasy, and my slice of cheesecake was about half the size of what I remembered.

I've been there exactly twice in my life. Maybe both times were in FL. All I remember is that there was no waiting for a table, no kids, good service, good food, and a huge variety of cheesecakes to look at and chose a piece from.
I have no idea how I'd feel about the place if I lived near one and had unpleasant experiences at. And that's that!

I generally avoid chain restaurants - Olive Garden, P.F. Chang's, Applebee's, Houlihan's, Chili's, etc.
I am reminded of the episode of "The Office" in which Michael Scott (Steve Carell) was vising New York City and says he's going to his favorite "authentic New York pizzeria", and then goes to Sbarro.

Usually, non-chain restaurants are more expensive. I can't afford to eat at Olives or Rosa's every week. I have nothing against Brinker, Inc or Claim Jumper or Applebees.
I do hate the Olive Garden, though. Yuck!

nitsua, I think The Olive Garden is vile! It's the Burger King of Italian food.

I'd much rather have Johnny Carinos than The Olive Garden.

I have never been to Olive Garden. The one near me is right across the street from a little mom and pop Italian ristorante, so I always go to the mom and pop place (which is authentic and yummy). The Olive Garden is always packed, which I find amusing.

Speaking of Johnny Carinos, there's a location opening up like 5 minutes from my house.

I don't go to chain restaurants either, normally, but guess what-I didn't know the cheesecake factory was a chain. We don't have one here, and I had never heard of it. Now that I tried it, I'd go back.

I go to The Cheesecake Factory quite often here in LA...been doing it for years and years. I've never once had a bad experience or anything like that. The food is fantastic, the portions are large enough for a doggie bag and the dessert menu is a religious experience! TCF is not an expensive restaurant...far from it.
As we all know, a lot of people on this board love to hate it before they experience it.......either seeing a show, eating at a restaurant, etc...

you ARE kidding right? Of course you know how you would feel, unless you are different than must humans.
Nope, not having a bad day at all, just don't like chains (in general)....and in the case of Cheesecake Factory, I can get better cheesecake (and food for that matter, elsewhere) and more often than not at cheaper prices.
But when it comes down to it, I will go where I can get good food for a fair price, and I can honestly say that CF has never fit into that catagory, and I have tried them in several states, not just the new one here......

LOL, I had to chuckle at this. I am indeed very different than most humans~
Anyway, I think how I'd feel was that I wouldn't eat there but would definitely take out (cheesecake) from there!

Olive Garden has gummy, overcooked pasta. They have no concept of "al dente".
Also, what's with the mushy, garlicky "breadsticks"? When i eat italian food, I want some nice, crusty, hearty Italian BREAD.

I rather like the Cheesecake Factory in Sacramento and Boston. Their whipped cream is amazing.

I've been twice. Once in Pasadena about ten years ago, and once a couple of years ago at The Grove in L.A.
The food was huge, we didn't wait too long, and they made me a great mojito.
That's all I remember.

The lettuce wraps are divine, the vanilla bean cheesecake is decadent, and the Kettle One Strawberry Martini is to die for.
However, the lines and the prices ($10 a martini north of Boston?)make it one of those things that I like but can live without.
